Well, seeing as we are starting to take over the

"Offical HOP "I just learnt a new move" thread", I thought we should contain this bit just to jugglerisng and the throwing and dropping of balls, clubs, rings and other miscellaneous juggling props.

Today I mothered learning 441.

I had a few throws of 531 but only 1 catch. I think my 5 is too high.

Note for the mods: I DEMAND on behalf of the jugglers on this site, as has been done with the aforementioned "Poi moves thread", that this one is made a sticky thread.

Otherwise its just favouritism really....

Thanks for the comment to practice both hands btw, MiKe7.

As a side note I had always tried synch 4 ball not asynch and asynch is so, so, so much easier for me... I thought it'd be harder, but its so much similar to the cascade action.

I am sticking to three for now. Columns are cleaning up, got two in each hand when I want it.

Also mucking about with under the arm throws in cascade.

LH half-shower being annoying still.

*Might not be actual juggling!*

I was playing around at the juggling club last night with 2 cigar boxes and a large (4") bounce ball. Some really fun things to be done with that!. Think I'm going to try and work up to the point where I can manipulate 3 balls and 2 boxes mmmmmm.

I'll make a video when I've got some stuff solid smile

Grrrr no fair, I'm no closer with 97531 than I was a year ago. Maybe I should practice it more...

Managed a few things with the cigar boxes + balls last night:
- 2 balls bounced and caught on the top edge of the boxes in synch
- 1 ball bounched from box to box through the legs in a figure 8 pattern
- A sorta 531. Drop the ball from the RH box (5), throw the boxes to swap em (31), catch ball on LH box. Reckon this could work with 2 balls but not managed it yet.
- Started working on a 'walking roll'. Think the walking halfpipe contact ball trick with cigar boxes

Sooooooooo much fun grin

Nice!

I managed to do a few more 2ball/2box things last night - mostly just different ways of swapping them from box to box. Started out attempting to do a bounce reverse cascade from box to box, with the 3rd ball missing. Didn't get far but its certainly possible.

Aston, just thought, try doing your underarm throws out of and into the reverse cascade - its a bit easier and its good practice for mills mess smile

Wait... bounced reverse cascade except using boxes instead of hands? :S shocked

Yesterday I did some combinations of 66661 and 744 from cascade, like:

7447446666166661

6666166661744744

6666174474466661

I also did some four ball tricks with snowballs for the lulz.

Incidentally, can anyone (wwffj) help me with a siteswap for a crossing synchronous 4ball split multiplex into and out of 5 cascade? I do them all the time and it bothers me that I can't work out the siteswap. smirk

Hmm, well really you couldn't have a crossing split multiplex - a split is where 1 ball crosses the other doesn't. You could have a synch crossing stack, or just synch splits?

Also, theres no real agreement on a way of writing the transitions between synch and asynch. I tend to use .5 additions. Heres a few I can think of that go some way towards it though:

([6x4x],[4.5x2.5x])(0,2) 5555 (Crossing stack into cascade)
([6x4x],[53])(0,2) 5555 (Same but using odd numbers instead of .5s)
([6x2.5],[4.5x,4])(0,2) 5555 (Synch splits)

Urk, brain hurt now lol

Eep, I didn't mean split then... I just meant both balls cross but are thrown to different heights.

Also, I was kinda looking for something I could plug into JugglingLab and watch the pretty pattern go. Haha.

JugglingLab doesn't seem to like your swaps. frown

Does it support synch/asynch transitions? You'll have to find out how it likes em written. I'm pretty sure most sims don't support it though confused

I'm pretty sure it does because I found a swap for transitioning between (6x,4)* and cascade which worked.

It involves shifting the rhythm by one beat but I CAN'T WRAP MY HEAD AROUND IT!!! ARRRRGGGG!!!

I'ma go find that 6x4 transition swap and see if I can reverse engineer it or something hahaha.

Cool, if you post it up here I'll have a go at figuring it too smile

Edit:

Just had a mess about with a causal diagram (you've got me intrigued now) and I'm thinking it will be something like 5556x ([53],[6x4x]) 05555, can't get on Jugglelab from here though so can't verify it. Should be close though, maybe a case of switching the order of the synch throws or adding some 2's in...

I DID IT! HAHAHA

555556x22[1x1x]([4x6x],[35])

I worked it out using a ladder diagram! I didn't think I'd ever use one, but I did, and it worked. smile

I've been doing a pattern I want to be told more about... I mean... its not overly complicated... but this is how it goes.

Its a 3 ball cascade (Not reverse so far as I can tell, I can do rev quite easily..)

But its "Tilted" so that the right hand will come across to the left and throw the ball left to right and the left will come across to throw the ball right to left, the balls travel along the same arc regardless of the hand they are thrown from.

As far as I see it its a way of twisting the paths from having two arcs (one for each hand) into one. Is this correct or is it something else I have yet to comprehend?

So the balls make a circle all in the same direction, throws make the top half and the carry motion of the hands make the bottom half?

That would be the windmill, a very fun move.

What were you wanting to know more about on it? Having trouble with parts of it or is it solid and you'd like variations?

MNS I think you might just be talking about reversing the throw and catch locations of a regular three ball cascade so that the balls make a reverse cascade "shape" but with (technically) inside throws.

If so it's a simple shape distortion. [You can do a similar thing with the reverse cascade - instead of throwing the balls in arcs to the opposite hand, throw them straight up and move your hands to the balls. :)]

You would have mentioned crossing and uncrossing your arms if it was windmill, right?

I think Mike7 has got it.

All I was really after was to be told whether or not I was correct about what the hell it was doing.

"eversing the throw and catch locations of a regular three ball cascade so that the balls make a reverse cascade "shape" but with (technically) inside throws."

Is what I was after and sounds spot on.

I'll have to do the windmill, I've been doing half of that movement, I think...

Thanks a heap for the responses, the pair of you.

Don't know what it's called but, now that I think about it, it's probably 522 with weave during the 22 - Kinda like rubensteins revenge.
