Well, seeing as we are starting to take over the

"Offical HOP "I just learnt a new move" thread", I thought we should contain this bit just to jugglerisng and the throwing and dropping of balls, clubs, rings and other miscellaneous juggling props.

Today I mothered learning 441.

I had a few throws of 531 but only 1 catch. I think my 5 is too high.

Note for the mods: I DEMAND on behalf of the jugglers on this site, as has been done with the aforementioned "Poi moves thread", that this one is made a sticky thread.

Otherwise its just favouritism really....

i can do two different 531 messes, and 441 mess,

been trying and failing miserably on (3)45601234560123(3) mills, but its the wierdest pattern i ever did see.

have you seen northern do his 5313 mess?

he does (3)531353135313(3) - which means you do all three of the 531 messes in a row.
it hurts my head.

where are you starting 0123456 rob?
is it with the 4 as the '1' ball (don't know what you call that throw in mills - its the throw after the u ball)?
it looks horribly hard.
you should try 012333456 with the 4 as the 1 ball, then you at least have a bit of a chance at running it...

i reckon any trick with a period that isn't a multiple of 3 is only worth doing one round of in mills, otherwise they are just insanely hard to learn.

as an example 5313 has period 4 - if you try and run it you have to go through 12 beats before the pattern repeats.

those patterns make a lot more sense in mills if you add 'normal' throws onto them to make their periods a multiple of 3.
then you can add another 3 normal throws again to make the pattern symmetrical if it isn't already.

as an example take a look at 97531 mess, then look at 975315 mess, then look at 975315555 mess smile

another example: to turn 7531 mess (which martin has been trying recently) into an attemptable trick we add two 4's to the end: 753144 and if we want it to be symmetrical, add another 3 4's to it: 753144444

morning everyone biggrin juggle biggrin

will - i forgot the videos.
again.
please don't hate me...
i'll do you a thomas dietz cd for next week - you can spank me if i lie.

pat - hope you're feeling better hug
i had a lovely weekend of smiling, juggling and spinning - catch ya next time i'm down that way maybe...

err, new moves then... i don't have any frown
i tried 534 mess last night and i didn't like it.
will attempt 633 mess tonight as i've heard some people say they got that before they could run a normal 4b mills - maybe i will turn out to be one of those people...

my head almost expoded last night as i realised how to create siteswaps with different numbers and how most 4 ball siteswaps translate into 5 ball without too much difficulty.

but i'm too busy at work to explain it now frown
maybe tomorrow, or Friday.

can you come up here and spend several days explaining it to me?

wink

i learnt how to pirouette.

3ball three ups.

i'd been throwing right hand first and pirouetting left. duh!
now left hand first, left spins. i got ten in a row in bedroom height.
seem to have gone a bit awry today, but hey, they'll turn up.

smilery.

i'm super busy here today - and i've only been in 20 minutes!

but still i will take the time to tell ya all why last night rocked so much biggrin

will doing 5 clubs at spitz - i saw at least two runs over 10 catches and i wasn't watching for long hug
it looks gorgeous - especially when he uses my pretty, pretty clubs smile

things i did at spitz included:

a 4c run of 20+ catches.
3c 3up pirouette - caught it for the first time ever but with two wrong ends, the second time i nailed it smile
3c backcross singles - 3 in a row a whole bunch of times.
3b backcrosses - best run was 5 in a row.
with 4 balls i'm getting hi-mid-lo shower slightly more solid (still only about a 1 in 10 trick though).
with 5 balls i caught 64 from both sides - 645 here i come...
caught 744 from the right hand a couple of times.
and i flashed 7 with will's balls.

then i went to the hanger smile

that 3b cascade where every ball goes over you head to be caught behind was working a bit better - i get 3 or 4 catches of that most times now.
reverse shoulder throw fountains still don't work - two in a row is solid but i get confused when all four are going backwards...
i got really close to getting [flash > contortion lhs > flash > contortion rhs] but no cigar in the end.

then i went home with an angel princess and fell asleep happier than kid at christmas... ubblove

TomTom

Nice one PM me about Marcel if u hear anything - will reply to u soon were a tad busy here at work. Will do it this weekend if not b4.

*Funny English misses passing with Crazy Scottish too*

I've started getting into 4 ball contact and i can even do the circles thing with two balls in each hand.

And i've got back into three balls

and I'm really concentrating on 97531 so should have it when i see u next.

Ok...so on Tuesday night I was beginning to get 97531 and I started to think what other patterns I could do under a 9 – I wanted to do 9633 or something like that but found it very difficult when I tried it the first time (who wouldn’t?!)

So somehow on the way home I was thinking about how to get 633 in a pattern under a 9. I then thought about doing 96334 and worked out the numbers on a piece of paper and all seemed ok.

I then tried it again with 534 (5b - 95344) and that worked out ok. I remember Ben Beever saying something about a siteswap matrix where you put in siteswaps and then new patterns come out with siteswaps you hadn’t thought about doing before. I think this was what he was talking about (and I bet my bile duct that Cole will know exactly what I’m talking about and even be able to link me to a webpage where all of what I’m about to say is explained better).

Anyway I started thinking about this and realised I could just do 8633 or 96334.
Or 8534 and 96424

And then…

I realised…

That…

If 97531 works you should be able to throw a 9 and then do any 4ball 4numbered siteswap underneath and it should come down ok.

Ie. 9 and then
7531
7441
5551
4444
(all the above are in async)

and you can also throw 8 and any three numbered 4ball siteswap

633
534
642
444

so therefore, in 6 balls you can throw a 9 and do any three numbered 5ball pattern
9744
9753

and so on…

or 88333 – from this you can get 88531 or 88441

Does this make any sense to anyone? It makes vague sense to me and i've not had the time to write out all the siteswaps i know and then add the numbers...

Right then..

Following on from Will, a list of years that also work as siteswaps.

smile

1911

1915

1919 (5 ball shower)

1920

1924

1928

1951

1955

1959 (High Low shower?)

1960 (as previously stated by Will)

1964

1968

1991 wink

1995

1999

I also predic tthat the next jugglable year will be the oh so spectactularly unspectactular 2011.

Then it shall be 2015

then 2019

Then my favourite siteswap ever: 2020 ubblol

And there is 2024 which is almost as unexciting...

smile

There is a pattern:

1

5

9

0

4

8

1

5

9

0

etc

etc

etc

So how is that pattern relevent?

that's the hi lo in 4b

is that pattern (the long downwards one) relevant cos it was featured in 3b different ways?

Or is it the only siteswap you can't do with clubs in reverse cascade?

either way you made me laugh ubblol at the end of a long friday.
