Silly sod.

Did you break the new one as well?

what were you doing with them to break them?

*note: you cannot stop tanks with a fire staff. Doing this is extreemly dangerous for your helf*

The inner core is jammed, cant get one half it off, bit its still usable, or will be when i calm down and fix it.

the wooden one broke because it was made of some s*ite wood with a veneer and i kicked it

*note* do not kick your staff if you dont know what its made of....

now i shall not be highjacking Damo's Happy Staff Thread because getting a staff is lovely wonderous experience and muchly fun.

instead i shall wait politley in line for a turn.... smile

what color is it damo?

Im on my second staff now, as i broke my first one kicking it as well. Its a thick wooden dowel rod staff that i made myself, from the model of my first that was made for me....very easy. Love the contact shtuff, getting better...now if only i can learn the matrix....thanx Meg and Rob and Andre and all you other staffers that inspire me. spank
I want an innercore, would be much thinner than my wood staff methinks. How do they stand up to being kicked? Do they seem flimsy at all? Let me know, if you know.

i would say grand for basic stuff, but you really need something with a more consistant balance along the staff for really rolly rolls.... smile

I want to learn to do contact staff. I've been watching all the videos and it looks so cool. Give an utter novice (I've never even seen a staff IRL before, so really have no idea) some makes and names of staff that will be good to learn with please. I'm starting my Christmas list!

ah a common mistake

you have confused me giving giving advice with actually knowing what i am talking about. ubblol

im tryin to tech myself contact (have a look in my learning thread in staff moves for updates, i am about to post what i almost learned last night ubblol). I found it much easier to do contact with a wooden staff (1.5m) i bought in dublin. They sell the exact same ones on firetoys.co.uk

from what i have gleaned from the uber staffers that tantalize us with their magical skills the key seems to be in the weight and balance of the staff. Most seem to go for a bit heavier and a bit longer (1.5m) though some do use light but well balanced staffs too. A bit of weight at each ends really helps with the essential momentum contact seems to require.

There is some really sage advice in articles by bluemincat/pk and others on poi in the park. I highly recommend it for beginners. Helped me bundles..

also, have a look at mcp's contact tutorial website.... its the job...

Silver with a black grip.

In one of my more adventurus moments last night I bounced it off my knee. A word of advice, do it a bit above the knee, otherwise it hurts like hell.

I'm only 5'4 so 1.5 m is only 5" shorter than me. Isn't that going to be a bit long? I had a look at firetoys and the practice staff go from 245g up to 630g. The ones they call contact look.....um.....well......like sickly candy.

I'm not sure if I am looking in the right place on HoP ,but if I am there doesn't seem like a huge selection.

I think I need a bit more advice please......anyone? biggrin

I stripped the sparky crap off my contact staff.....

but like i said above, i kicked it and it broke in half.

I would also like to add here the the inner core is a yummy spinny lovely staff...

Why not make your own? Thats what im doing.....

There is a wealth of info on here about making staffs, Klaymens thread is particularly good....
