WTF???

oh..and even though is your first post..i am going to berate you for not searching as someone would have done that anyway..

This site has sooooooooooooooooooooooo many articles for firebreathing..

but the long and the short of it is..

Parrafin is what i use and what about 90% of people use.

But do a search anyway.

What's charcoal lighter? What's in it?
I have done a little fire breathing, my bloke showed me how because someone showed him. (He said; hold up the flames and spray the parrafin out of your mouth.) ubbidea
So, anyway, I tried and it worked. We even let the kid have a go on millenium eve night. We used parafin, it works great. Even when I had dribbled it all down myself I didn't get caught on fire.
Someone we know thought he'd show off at a party by doing it, he used petrol, he got his face really badly burned. ubbloco (He was drunk when he did it and he was drunk after, he was always drunk, he was an alky, so he thought it was funny. It wasn't)
With parafin you have to be careful not to breath it in because it can damage your lungs. And if you swallow too much you get the squitz, the boy started the new millenium squitting thru the eye of a needle. ubblol

So; soapbox
breath out not in
use paraffin not petrol
spit don't swallow

For what it's worth, that's my advice.
bye

You'll have to excuse the UK crowd. They tend to think they're the center of the world and when the don't understand something they just assume you must be wrong.

A charcoal lighter is a lighter with a very long handle so the flame is far away from the trigger... some people use them for lighting fireplaces and such. I'm sure they're called something else in the UK... since even their charcoal looks different from those of us in third world nations.

I'd think it would be OK for using as a torch for firebreathing EXCEPT... don't they blow out easily? Blow hard on it, if it goes out, you shouldn't use it for breathing. smile

Most people just used torches to light the flames.

And welcome to HoP.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

Silly me, I was assuming Lumbre was asking if it was ok to use lighter fluid to fire breathe with. I've never attempted to breathe before, but I would suggest not to put that stuff into your mouth, ever! I think it's pretty nasty. Under news/articles at the top of the site is a blib about fire breathing. I'd suggest looking in there or fuels for more info.

NYC,

I think you will find that we are at the centre, not the center, of the world wink

and the assumption that it was fuel we were talking about was because Lumbre said:

"can you use charcoal lighter for fire brething, or if not then what's the best fuel to use"

I don't think the UK is the centre of the world! I might think it's the arse hole of the world, but that's a different matter.
Also I didn't know what charcoal lighter was, so I asked.
I admit that I assumed that it was a type of fuel, but that did seem to be implied.
Did I say the wrong thing? I often do, It's a case of foot in mouth disease.
I just wouldn't like to see anyone burned like the bloke I mentioned, it was well nasty. And all because he used the wrong fuel.

Wales is an unfair representation of the UK.

I too agree the Wales or Wails, or Wayels is indeed the arsehoel of the world.

Second maybe only to France.

Or Zeebrugge.

Molly is right.

Fine.

So I change my response to.

'Please indicate the direct object in your first sentence as there appears to be none.'

Is your direct object:
a) Charcoal Lighter FLUID
b) A charcoal lighter
c) Lit Charcoal
d) Gasoline

Upon further review I would agree that everyone else is right and the answer is probably A. To avoid further internation tension, please use proper grammar.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

Actually I lived most of my life in England.

Wales is rather nice sometimes. (when it don't rain and when the slurry is not being spread)

The other day we were caught in a traffic jam caused by a bunch of cows being herded down the main road, cute or what?

I love the trees and the fields and all that. Much nicer than cities.

But Britain, on the whole, is a bit of a dump where the government wants to tell you when, where and how you can poo, wants to watch you doing it, will charge you for doing so and will send out the skidmark police afterwards to make sure you did it right and that the skiddies in your pants conform with european directives.

Nanny state? Too right.

all right thanx for the insight...even though it started turning into a conversation about the U.K..... but i was wondering if you could blow/sputter charcoal lighter(the fluid) for fire brething for a good result. i'v read the info on fire safety, but i can't seem to find the brand of fluid they talk about. that's why i started this post, to find out if charcoal lighter(the fluid) has the same effect...

What exact chemical is the charcoal lighter fluid? People might be able to give you a better answer if you are more specific.

I would assume, seeing as its a fluid specifically for starting fires, that it would have a low flashpoint

Which would make it very dangerous to use as a fuel for fire breathing

Charcoal lighter fluid=bad! Most fire breathers use ultrapure parrafin or biodiesel, i believe. But im not a fire breather, dont want that stuff in my mouth or my lungs and they say that sooner or later you will get a blowback. I dont want burnt lungs either. Search for Pele's post on that. I think the fluid seeps in thru your pores and also eats enamel off your teeth....yay.

biodiesel isnt any better than normal diesal...your still putting a methanol based solution into your mouth...yeah..nasty stuff...
if i remember right...charcoal lighter is naptha mostly with some additives mixed in for higher temp. while burning to get the charcoal started
the best thing that is easily accessible for breathing/blowing/aspirating...whatever you want to call it...is ultrapure lamp oil...in the UK ultrapure parrifin
neither eats the enamel on your teeth...you need some sort of acidic solution to do that...yes it does seep into your pores and a little bit will soak into the blood vessals in your mouth..
supposedly aviation grade kero is good to use, but its hard to get a hold of, and i personally havnt tried it....
just stick w\ultrapure...practice with water first...have a safety and somebody that knows how to properly do blows so they can help you with basic technique
