Seasonal depression...a lot of people get it...

Basically people's moods can be affected by the weather and some people actually suffer depression during certain seasons of the year.

Like plants, people benefit from a certain amount of sunlight per day. You will find the most positive person can get irritable during the winter.

rain does seem to make plants fresh and green though... guess its a good job same thing doesnt happen to humans or else we would all be green and growing very fast!

bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce

(ok so i know its not the rain that makes the plants green... but you know what i mean???!!!)

Every single being needs water to live. Our cells need it to work properly and keep all the processes running. Many reactions just work when light is present though. Plants grow into the direction of where the sun is coming from. That's a natural process as well.

Sun / light makes humans happy because the body releases hormones triggered by it (I guess... wink) That's why there are loads of depressed people and suicides in the scandinavian countries because it's very dark in winter over there.

I am in Dublin at the mo and it's dreary like hell... so nope, I am not happy right now ubblol

(And btw: the chlorophyl makes the plants green, stupid wink ubblol)

Oh, sun is shining... biggrin

or that really elemental rain that comes down in sheets, and you can see it coming down at a 45 degree angle and you have to lean into the wind and then cover your ears because of the thunder and lightnening being so close - the kind with the really swirly clouds, gusty winds, and that special color in the air just before it hits that make you look around for funnel clouds. and an hour later it is gone and the air is so clean but the ground is littered with all sorts of debris. that kind of rain won't depress you!

they don't get that kind of rain in Europe though...

european rain is just drizzly and dark and grey and lasts all day and is just plain depressing.

There is currently a thunder and lightning storm above my house.

I can see the end of the garden and it appears to not be raining there.

What is going on?

Rain is a great excuse to pull out the sock poi and start breakin some furniture. you could also put on a robe, go outside and do poi anyway - I think you will find that the energy will find you once you really get into it.

What's depressing is not sun or rain or hot or cold or dark or light, but boring average overcast weather. It's the dullness of it that eats into your soul. Give me a good thunderstorm anyday over drizzle, even a locallised one over just my house. This can happen quite naturally when summoning demons.

Or so I've heard.

What I fear most is isolation

Maderlock - think thats exactly what i was trying to say,
i love really big storms... but yeah at the moment its just overcast and grey,

baggy trousers and holes in my trainers dont help cos i cant go out without getting wet feet!

although i just went outside to do a bit of poi cos i havent in ages which was good - it was a bit damp but not actually raining so yay!

tis very true that if we were in a drought would be wishing for rain,

***mental note to self - dont get angry at the weather cos its not the weathers fault... weather is a neccessary part of life - its me who's got the problem not the clouds!***

I love rain. I have a pretty nice sized covered balcony in my apartments that gives enough room to spin, which is tons of fun when the rain is comin down. I have to agree with Parafinfairy about sitting in somewhere nice and warm and watching a DVD or two while its pouring outside.
Only time i HATE rain is when I have to work outside. BDU's + rain = reeeeally stinky people

During winter in Chicago there's this 4 month time period you can't go outside without freezing your arse off.

I normally feel pretty crappy during that time.

i quite like manky ol' drizzling rain.... so long as i don't have to go out in it i suppose. I like being inside, in bed and warm when it's manky rain biggrin then other times, it's fine to go out and go for a long walk and get completely drenched... in fact the drowned rat look is quite a favourite of mine....
