all my new tutorial videos:

https://mcp.tepookatoys.com/media/movies/tutorials-sep/

Made in september. Badly as per usual.

A very very very big video, that I haven't had time to chop up or make smaller yet. And won't for the next two weeks. It's the fourth in the illegal/stolen/borrowed spinning series. And it's definatly the best one I think.

It features fred astaire, break dancing, jackie chan and some very weird contact. As well as other bits and bobs, as ever.

https://videos.tepookatoys.com/media/illicit.wmv ~ 220mb

Yes, it is HUGE. But fred astaire, I mean, how can you compress him? He's not even doing cane manipulation... wink

There have been about twenty on something new videos added over the past couple of weeks, but I'll leave you to ferret them out.

this is my main reason for posting here:

This list represents what I consider 'base' contact movements. Most other moves are combinationsof this moves, variations, or these movements transfered to a different plane. These moves can be broken down into their component parts, but the way I present them here is as symmetrical (hopefully) movements. So for instance you can end a SNES with a vertical steve arm roll, but you'd break the symmetry of the SNES, so I don't present that here.

They are in rough order of difficulty and impressiveness. It all depends on how you learn thou.

Neck Wraps

Body Part Spins

Shoulder Wraps

Fishtails

Halo Roll

Conveyor Belt

Angel Roll

soon it will be happy beltane...

routines are hard. you've got to cut out everything you can't do solidly, then add maybe three tricks that are super impressive and you have to practise thme to get them solid enough for the routine. place them all in the routine in a pleasing fashion and then add loads of body movement and chorograph it to some peice of music. joy. I'd rather just learn a new trick... wink

all my new tutorials. There's quite a few. I haven't posted the text here with them. Know I know y'all don't bother to read it. Sorry if some of them are [censored]. I started out with good intentions, but watching myself so much eroded my determination and motivation.

when i was learning dual fishtails i found that i had to disconnect my thinking about each hand so i practised both hands individually doing fishtails with my eyes closed and going on the feel of the staff then i would start thinking about other things to try to forget about the fishtailing hand. Once i got that down i started fishing one hand and doing a one beat with the other trying to focus on the one beat keeping the fishtail going without thinking about it to much, then both sides. after that i found going into dual fishtails alot easier and teh trick to it being putting my mind somewhere else.

for two sticks on one hand ive found keeping them parallel is easier to keep them going indefinately, i dont think that the laws of physics permit them to stay in a cross for long.

meg downloading away will critique soon, gotta be the best way to pass the time while awaiting results ubbrollsmile

i take it that it was a performance? i didnt like it so much, it didnt really fit with the music and the start you kinda ambled on and the whole looking around was a bit unprofessional i liked lab 5.1 alot more *shrugs* there where some nice bits where the fire hands frame the staff nicely and create some cool shapes but i think u need to refine it a bit more

your body posture n stuff seemed more like a casual spin than a performance is what i was trying to get at, the routine builds from spinny to contact nicely and has a wide variety of tricks, its just seems to be missing the polish i guess

Yeah it's just your statment was a tad obvious. It's like saying hey meg you were crap 8 months ago, your video from a week ago is much better. Well duh!

Yeah it defo missing polish. I made up that routine in a couple of hours at BrJC cos somebody asked me to be in the fire show. So that's its second and so far final performance. I didn't feel like I could post it till sphercular vision came out, cos matt had footage from the original BrJC performance.

Fire hands + contct is a bitch, but I like the neck spins at the end with the hands out, and in general it shows where the hands are really well.

Meg - I know you're ignoring me for your own reasons but now that I've seen your vid's for the very first time ever, to me it becomes apparent why we're not getting along so much... shrug You're a techie, I'm a dancer...

First of all I would like to give you a great compliment for your control and skills. Really a great thing! Great inspiration.

But from the performance point of view... dance - move those feet... and (as it's my very own mistake), drop an occasional smile... It will brighten up your performance 10-fold.
