What is psychology?- Looking for a black cat in a dark room. What is psychoanalysis? Psychoanalysis is looking for a black cat in a dark room -- in which there is no cat -- but finding one anyway.

My state of mind is not yours to define!

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

i have pm-ed you about this already.. but if you want a continued bday party when you get to london you now know where to come!

hurrah for sept 1 babies.. not sure which country you went to school in but were you like me and always the oldest in the year? that used to be fun. i was born 6.5 hrs after the school divide line anyway, was very proud of that (still am, can you tell?! ubblol)

anyway, biggrin HAPPY BIRTHDAY biggrin one more time.

In the states (or at least Texas anyway...) the diiding line is also Sept 1, except that instead of the beginning of the day it is the end - which meant I was always the youngest in my classes! ubblol

funny what a difference a day makes - from oldest to youngest, a whole year!

Posted:In the northeast US, the cut-off date is sometime in the fall (definitely later than Sept.1). That's the whole reason I went to a private school for 3 years. My mother was determined that I start kindergarten when I was 4 because that is what she did, but in TX the public schools wouldn't let me cuz you have to be 5 to start kindergarten here.

Posted:It is interesting how it differs so much.. my Mother practically campaigned and had multiple arguments with my Headteacher about getting me into the older year as I was due to be born on the 31st Aug anyway and was only a few hours late, and what difference did it make etc etc... I did start a few months early somehow though, because they changed the rule from being 'you must be 5 before the school year starts' (which in 1985 was around the 3rd or 4th sept) to 'you must be 5 before the 1st sept' half way through the year so i got a bit caught up in that.

Anyway I'll shut up because this must be getting boring now (if it wasn't in the first place)

1st September is still just a cool birthday biggrin sorry Vanize that it made you the youngest though, that is a real shame. Being the oldest in the year was like this great honour!! haha.

Posted:not always true about having to be 5 in texas to start kindergarden - I was 4 when I started. but that was because I hated my daycare (so badly that I still have animosity for like two people there 30 years later), all the other daycares were full, and she went to the school and made them take me because she really didn't have any other options short of quitting work.

between that and the september 1 thing, it meant I was actually 3 for my first week of kindergarden! and I didn't turn 18 till after I was in college.
