biggrin so here's how it started...

Home of Poi Day is an idea generated by members of this site, where for one day a year all of us can meet each other in regional locations around the world to share our love of poi. Last thing i heard, plan's for this years event were focussed around October 30th. umm

The Sphercular Ball is an idea independntly generated by members of Spherculism.com to celebrate 1 000 members on Spherculism by (see above). By coincidence the proposed date is also the 30th October. (also co-incidentally HOP has recently achieved 10 000 members) umm

Poi In the Park in Sheffield is the longest established poi meet in the UK and is soon to get a new web host which means PK can make the website even better. Sheffield would co-incidentally be the best place to hold a regional Poi meet for the midlands/north. umm

Bearing these facts in mind and adding together these co-incidences there can only be one outcome: ubbidea

On Saturday 30th October, Poi In the Park of Poi have offered to host a HUGE poi meet at Endcliffe Park in Sheffield to celebrate the Sphercular Home of Poi Day Ball 2004!!! biggrin ubbrollsmile weavesmiley hug

Everyone's invited however good you are or wherever you come from and we want as many spinners, jugglers, acrobats etc... as possible from the surrounding Midlands/North to be there so SPREAD THE WORD!!!

grouphug

the meet will probably start some time after lunch + run on as long as it does. seeing as it's halloween and a special celebration of the Poi community we should come up with lots of fun ideas of things to do like fancy dress and i reckon there should be lots and lots of cake.... smile

So whaddya reckon? Who's coming? biggrin

I seem to have acquired a contact ball was wrapped in my hat?? So have no idea when it got there as I took my hat of at the park.

It has a few small scratches and a couple of shallow dimpled bits as though its been lightly dropped on concrete. Whose it is I'm not sure Vicki didn’t you say yours had a distinctive scratch on it?????.

I propose a fight to the death winner gets the ball. Ha ha harrrrrr (evil laugh) no no seriously now if you can decide who’s it is I will happily post it to you (rushes of to measure it (no idea about size of contact balls)) one set of vernia callipers later its 70mm .

Top Top weekend will put a post on 2 night I'm just of to work now Gurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

before i met those lot i thought they'd be a bunch of dreadlocked hippies that smoked, set things on fire ,and drank a lot of tea but then when i met them....oh wait (PyroWill)

Firstly and foremostly, huge thanks, hugs, and fluffyness to Lolli, PK and everyone else who helped to organise the weekend - Lolli, your hosiptality is amazing! hug's to the lot you.

I haven't unpacked yet, but will have a rummage through my CJ balls - I know which ones of mine have chips, so should be able to recognise and strangers in there.

Wonderful to meet all people I've been chatting to on here for years, and good to see everyone I already knew again.

Huge big extra-big manly hugs to Rossco and Dunc smile

Huge thanks to 2bags too for car-liftage and just being an all round top bloke - wicked to meet you!

Eskimo and butterfly kisses to:

UCOF - I bloody love you

Pink...? - Your fluffy-ness is never ending.

Vixen - Grrrrrow, sorry I didn't get to chat properly

Mint Sauce Top bloke - good to meet you

Bovril - King of balloons - Jumping Bean Balloons!! Wicked ubblol

Dub - Come back to us soon!

ParafinFairy - hug & ubblove to you - top travelling partner and very nice flapjacks.

Cantus - Sorry didn't get to say goodbye, should always let sleeping Fraggles lie hug

Huge apologies if I've missed you as you're all wonderful but my memory is rubbish and I know I will have missed people out - but I can honestly say, I didn't meet one person this weekend who wasn't as nice/nicer than I thought they would be - what a wonderful group of people you all are biggrin

I'd like to apologise for not being able to make it in the end. You all got NO idea how MUCH I was looking forward to this fab weekend. Me n a gal called Sophie ( the sophie from oxford Vixen) met in Manchester, to catch a bus to where Pete (Flashfire) was coming with his girlfriend and Toby to pick us up on his way from Ellesmere Port. Unfortunately, he broke down on the way, big Ends had gone, and he spent a miserable hour being towed home by the AA! Sophie decided that by the time she had gotten back into Manchester and caught a train, she would have to leave because she couldn't stay the night, so went home. I decided to get a bus back into twon, get a bus back home, get my cash cards and some more cash ( I had not bought them cos I am ALWAYS losing them when I camp out!), get a bus back into town then a train to the park!
Unforunately, when I arrived home, one of my three cats was lying whimpering on my doorstep, a big hole in its side, intestines spilling out, and lots of burnt fur around the hole. It appears some f**king reprehensible b****rd had thrown a firework at him. I wrapped him up in a blanket, took him to the emergency vet, where they examined him and made him more comfortable and tended to his wounds. He didn't make it, and they put him to sleep at around 2 in the morning.

I suppose it was kinda fortunate for me in the end that pete had broken down because I would have returned from a brilliant weekend of fun to find him dead on my doorstep and would have known he spent his last hours in terrbile pain. At least this way he got to die peacfully.

Lucy (who the Manchester gang will know from our meets) also couldn't go in the end as she was looking after one of her friend who had recieved some tragic, awful news.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say sorry for not showing, especially to Cantus (I've got that disk mate....if you pm me your address i'll happily post it to you), Pyrowill, everyone that knows me who was there, and the delightful Louise, who I was really looking forward to meeting.

Enough grumpiness....you guys sound like you had a REALLY fab time and I'm glad it went wll...bring on the next one! biggrin

see ya all soon folks

It's smashing to be back x

We have photos on Mr PK's phone of the last few survivors (PK, Solace, Simon and myself) drinking coffee in town this morning biggrin

and Nix is still in the house of fun and Lollis - but only because he got lost in manchester and couldn't find his bus back to scotland.

Was an uber brilliant event of magnitudinal proportions. but then you all know that.

Was phenominal meeting everyone.

such a shame that astrfaerie was invisble (apologies if i met you but was too pissed to notice - blame pyrowill and his vodka. Or stroo and her wine. Or Stroo's random irish friend with his wine too. Don't, whatever you do, blame me for drinking it tongue)

Extra special thanks to everyone who's failed to mention me in their lists so far. I loved meeting and hugging each and every one of you.

I'll come back and write a proper post tomorrow when i'm not so tired. hug
