Romanians beware! a little dragon is headed your way next year! (that kinda rhymes! and i didnt even mean for it to!)
a lovely (fat!) letter arrived in the post today "i am delighted to let you know that you have been recomended for a placement with GAP in Romania, teaching English as a Foreign Language"
i will get a phone interview within the next few months to determine my specific placement, and i will find out "from mid-september" where and when exactly i am going.
I'm so excited! reading the details on Romania; "Romania is a fascinating and beautiful country..." it was sinking in! i'm going to be in Europe next year!

Wow! that will be quite an experience! Will you be teaching people who can already speak english a bit or taking people with zero knowledge? Can you speak Romanian? Where will you live? Do you get paid?

i dont know about the english ability of my studnets, but i hear that Romanian youth have really good engligh. but i can be teaching 9-18 year olds so there will probably be a mix.
i cant speak a word or romanian, and by not a word i mean i dont even know "hello"!
ill live with a host family, but i wont find them out until i land in Romania!
i technically dont get paid, cos im technically a volunteer, but i will get some pocket money. but my board (and food i think) is paid for so the pocket money wont need to go towards that.

and yes it will be soon cos i got an email today saying that i am in the group that is proposed to leave in JANUARY!
i'm so stoked! i need to email them back tonight to tell them that it suits me (cos i REALLY want the january departure and not the september one cos the september one will screw up my plans).
there are only 13 with placements in Romania and only 5 got January departures! so i'm pretty lucky!
aaah! i'm so stoked!!! my best friend was here when i read the email and i just kept hugging her and squeeling!
(only it wont be sunny when i get there! it will be really cold! but it could be worse! it could be russia in january!

The amazingness of international phone calls - I GOT A CALL TODAY FROM THE UK ABOUT NEXT YEAR!!!!!
I'm to stay in a rural town 2 hours north west of Bucharest! It's apparently the 'best' placement because it's "very romanian" and not as westernised like Bucharest is!
I leave on the 15th january!

I've been through the area (by rail) you are going to be posted, and yes - it is VERY rural. very few cars even - most people still have horse drawn carts. or at least that was the case 4 years ago. It will be an interesting experienc from what I saw!

I received my itinerary and I leave on the 14th January! (and that's 4 days before Uni placements come out!) and thats 3 and a half months away! woah! three and a half months! AWESOME!
and I got the address of the school I am going to so i need to write the headmistress a letter introducing myself! what the hell do i say!
i also got the email address of the girl that was there earlier this year, so im getting ready to ask her heaps of questions!

Will be travelling from Bucharest to London from the end of June until whenever she gets there (the time it takes depends on YOU!)
I can't cook or clean or sew or any other of those things; but I can pull a beer and make an assortment of cocktails!
By that stage I should also be able to teach English to whoever wants to learn (after spending 6 months paying my board through English lessons!) and give Japanese lessons if you're brave enough!Oh! I forgot to mention...I'm also REALLY cute

I just got an email from the girl who is currently at the school! She says that I will be taking 4 English Drama classes! sweet! I love drama! So she recomended I get my hands on some plays and take them over!
She also said that the people are beautiful! but she hadn't been in the town long enough to get me a good description of it yet.
