A Spinn-off bucket is a way to concerve oil, as well as protect the ground.

It's basicly a paint can with a chain on the wire handle.
After you have douced your poi or staffs, you put them in the spinn-off bucket, an inch or two from the bottom. Holding the bucket chain with your poi/staff, spinn the hell out of them, and the bucket catches all of the oil. This keeps the grownd from getting oiled, and saves you oil for the next show. wink You will be surprized at how much oil you save... biggrin

Save the Earth one step at a time. wink

Peace and Blessings,

Fire Spirit

PS. With Staffs douce one side, spin off, then douce the other. This keeps oil from dripping down onto your staff wrap/ handle... But you probably already know this ubblol

... and people abuse it to spin off? Hang them higher! wink

No seriously I don't know what the problem is with your can. If ppl ONLY spin white gas, okay - but for everybody else... shrug

You're right tho': dipping + reading at the same time IS difficult (at night)... We will just have to hang on and wait till the word spreads that not every can is for dipping, not all sticks and balls are for spinning.... rolleyes

Wait.... You can do something else with sticks?

I forgot all about these!!

Thanks for reminding me of their existence.

make some for my poi... but with my staff I can't resit the huge burn-offs.

I'm off to find a can.

Edit:

I meant that in a non-toiletry sense.

Well, spin off cans are to avoid spillage of Kerosene into the environment. As I understand it, if you perform a huge burn-off, you are using that (excess) Kerosene to generate a WOWish effect...

Acceptable, no?

Hmm, I suppose so. I assumed that during a burn-off, excess bits of paraffin would spray here and there - some of which doesn't catch aflame.

I'm probably completely wrong though.

It's probably as you say - which means that now I can do it... and not feel guilty at all. wink

if you burn off, there is still huge spillage frown so unless you are performing or actually practising (as opposed to just playing) you should spin off, IMO....

Ah, so it is as I feared.

I guess I should make some staff-spin off cans then... to use when not performing.

*ponders* Thanks Rob, you're right - there is still spillage. The amount of it might depend on the speed and accuracy of your spin off...

Besides I get more and more wary of spinning outside of practising or performing... but that's more due to Indian Kero being eek
