Posted:Im in the process of making my first set of flags. Was just curious as to what is best to use for weighting the leading edge and leading corner? If possible, try to think of household items cuz I dont have the time to go buying stuff right now. Kinda in a hurry for an answer cuz they gotta be done by tomorrow night. Thanks.

Posted:good luck finding the stuff around the house Icon. I used drapery weights and placed them on two side and the connecting corner. Starting mid way on one side and ending mid way on the other.

Posted:Well, my flags have been designed and are currently being sewn. Ended up using some screen door lining (like rubber cord) in the two edges and change in the leading corner. I love the fabric I got for them, they're bound to look super sweet once they're done. Thanks for the input guys.

Dom, what do you mean by "distributed a bit" place them along the bottom edge of one of the flags, or? Got a picture of the ones you made showing where the weights are?

I made some but they weren't cutting it, so I'll need to redesign and remake.

Posted:Hapotrope: I made a set based on these instructions with a bit of help also from these out of white silk habotai.

The graduated lengths of weighting really helps flare out the flags and they's some damn sexy flags if I do say so myself.

Posted:I've found a company in the UK that sells weighted cord you could stitch into the hem of flag poi.

Cope & Timmins Ltd

tel: 0845 4588863
fax: 0800 4587793
email: sales.bristol@copes.co.uk

They call it Hemtape (used for weighting curtains)

25g 100mts 28.94
50g 50mts 25.65
70g 50mts 30.28

Those are trade prices before VAT is added. I'm not sure, they sell by the mt. You will probably have to buy the whole roll, but if its for a group of you making them it might work out ok.

I hope thats of some help to someone.

Mum found a stash of 2c coins and they worked ok as well. If I had really flash material I think I would get ball chain though.
