Posted: Making your own poi is cheeper, but time consuming, especially if you haven't done it before.
If it's your first set, there's something to be said for buying your first set and use it as a model to build subsequent sets, as well.
If I'm doing cathedral folds, I'll build my own, since those are relatively easy. If I go for cylindrical wicks, I buy them. I don't have the tools to drill through the cylinder. Monkey fists...well, I don't know how to do a monkey fist knot so I've gotta buy those as well.
Not sure this has helped much or not, but there you have it.

Posted: Making fire poi is good when your grounded and have niothing else to do I've made about 3 sets to date and the've been great. I've spun with my mates from HoP and there ok, but the flames are titchy! Its really cool when you've finished and look at them and say "wow i made them!" Of course ive got a big strong dad to help me as well
