Good lord how can none of you know the origins?!?!?!

One Eddie Izzard came up with it in his stand up show. It was in Dress to Kill, the section on reigion.

Original sin! What a hellish idea that is! People have to go,

"Father, bless me for I have sinned, I did an original sin… I poked a badger with a spoon."

"I've never heard of that one before! Five Hail Mary's and two Hello, Dolly's."

"Oh, all right..."

"Bless me, Father, for I have slept with my next door neighbor's wife."

"Heard it! I want an original sin."

"Oh, I'm terribly sorry!"

There's also a LOTR fiction site called "Poking Badgers with Spoons" if my memory serves. It was the actors who played Merry and Pippin (can't remember the actor;s names), and some of their friends writing the stuff... I *think*.

The name origin for that site was one of the two actors had a shirt on that said the infamous "I poke badgers with spoons" and that was that, I guess!

I've noticed that there have been too many badgers in chat recently.... but I aint seen many in the wild... been loads of foxes.... I suppose its nice that our wild life is looking interesting again and that their are avid badger pokers with many different spoons
