does all of england just stop working all the sudden??

but any input would be nice. but i should shut up considering i would love to live in england some day. biggrin

It's possible that she had other people waiting to eat, so it would have been rude to carry on with the call if they were sitting at the table watching their food go cold.

The other possibility is that she really needed the bathroom and felt awkward about saying so.

And yes, generally all work stops if there actual tea involved; look at any group of workmen ostensibly digging up roads, inevitably they're leaning on their shovels drinking tea. It's compulsory here.

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.

it's the same here as well. when it's time for tea you have to stop what you're doing and eat!

Eera, when i'm on the phone and need to go to the toiet - i just say so! but then again, i have no shame ubblol

Native... In my country, we eat something like 6 times in a day (if it doesn't have rice... it's a snack!) I ask myself the same question, but work does get done anyway (at least when I'm not glued to HoP) wink

You're Australian. 'nuff said biggrin

Seriously though, there's too many people who find natural bodily functions shameful. They've been going on for nearly 4 billion years and yet people still feel the need to pretend that they're in a toilet for some other reason. Odd.

Anyway, back to tea...

and also calling being ill, poorly..yuch...
anyhoo, tea: tis a fine subject. one when you wake up, one half way thro the morning (maybe with a biscuit, maybe not...) one in the late afternoon, then maybe middle evening, it depends..
(its weird, cos i have one here right now!!)
oo how do u take your tea? avec sugar? and what do you dip? i like choccie digestives, but i have a friends who favours bread (don't worry, she's well looked after)
my goodness, tea has such qualities

Honeybush all the way! smile Although Earl Grey is nice too with a bit of milk and sugar.

You guys should see how we eat here. biggrin Breakfast, lunch and dinner we have rice with 2-3 viands. Mid-morning and afternoon snack we could have either a sandwich or some pasta dish.

Faberge, if you ever make it this way... you'll see what I mean! smile

i usually drink herbal tea. and i really like to make my own plunger tea! and cos its herbal you gotta have it black. and no sugar - keep the sugar intake down!

Yeah, I think there is a misconception in the US that tea time refers to afternoon tea parties with black tea (cream and sugar are optional wink )

It wasn't until I met Mand that I learned that Tea Time is the same as dinner.

biggrin

These days, I'm as likely to ask what she'd like for Tea as what she'd like for Dinner. wink
