How many times will we twirl fire in this lifetime? No idea
But so far I have used almost 16 years of my life, and only twirled with fire once, I really do need to learn more tricks and not be so scared

Vearing away from a philisophical answer, lets just go straight for simple maths, using averages:

Spin every other day - thats 365/2 per year = 183 times a year

Average lifetime - say 75 (spinning walking stick) ubbangel

Started spinning when i was 20ish - 75 -20 = 55years of spinning in total - that leaves 50 to go!:D

So thats 55 x 183 = 10065 times biggrin

Man - i better go outside and find my stick ubbrollsmile

I've already lost count, but it must be in the hundreds by now.

It is a philosophical question. Kind of a "tree in the forest" scenario. May as well ask how many breaths will we each take?

I hope i burn until i die. Which, given the amount i smoke, shouldn't be too long away. In fact, i could die while spinning, which would be very funny (but only for me) and make a great end to a show. biggrin

twice a week at an average of about 6 times a night = 12 times a week

50 * 12 (two weeks of non-spinning is probably about right, due to vacation/schedule/weather) = 240 a year

First burn = 16th birthday, makes it easy. I see myself spinning fire regularly for at least the next 5 years = 1440 spins in the next 5 years.

[/nerd]

Wowza. I better buy more white gas.

I don't mean to diminish your love of twirling by attempting to quantify it - i just find it interesting to consider just how many is many.
A lot, i'd say!

however if you measured the string, would your appreciation of it's grandeur not grow?
That is the implication of the question: I could appreciate this flamey addiction if i knew the numbers:
the number of times i've lit up
the number of times i've felt inspired,
the number of times i've repeated myself,
the number of times i've repeated myself,
and the number of times i've misspelt evesh!

Maybe it should not be to count the number of times I or any other twirler have played with fire, but instead how many hours in a lifetime will you twirl - after all, does a half hour twirl count as much as a 9 hour twirl!? I twirl every night and perform twice a week...and yes, even in the pouring rain! : )

I love fire dance ; )
