Hehe, the weather isn't great, I agree, but it's poiable...
But I've heard juggling groups in Delft, The Hague and Amsterdam that practice in indoor halls... You just have to pay a small entrance fee.
Kraakpanden, don't know anyone in The Hague actually, do you Kim?

Ow, and indoor = no fire frown

Heya Badger, are you coming to the Netherlands in the near future or is it just a wish smile??? Nice wish, nice idea!! Think I'm going to steel it biggrin... Only 2 problems: the owners might not like it (A), and it's always windy there... but since I live quite near the thing, I can wait for a day without wind devil

im just daydreaming remebering good old high school times...

ive been to the hague 3 times for a week, notice all those annoying teenagers flooding the city at the end of january?

well i was at the MUN conference too, and learned to love the city and hate the drunken teenagers around me wink

we always chilled on top of the bungeetower or hidden in the dunes or behind the bunkers....wherever we could hide from our teachers or the idiots that we had to work with at the conference......

theres this little room right before you come out on the top you can drop ur stuff in there and only go up to spin.

i havent seen any owners around but again ive beent there for 3 weeks total. and i remeber the candy store in the mall before the pier...... drool

speaking of which.. dont know if u check this often mot, but you fancy another spin sometime? i know its getting cold but were big boys ubblol

Ok, first you're telling us you're big boys, and now you are wining about the cold??? ubblol

Last night at spuiplein was pretty cold too, rain and wind etc. But as long as you're spinning...
There were a lot of 'firsts' for me: my first meeting, my first time spinning on Spui plein, my first time seeing the queen and my first time being kicked from the Spui-plein by the ME (Mobiele Eenheid) while the Police enjoyed our performance!!
Oh well, girls from Groningen, Mot and Berend, it was very nice to meet you!! Till very soon... prob. the 26th!
Kim weavesmiley

WTF? You we're kicked of the spuiplein and why was the queen there? How did old Bea liked it? Now I'm sorry I couldn't make it. BTW Telpeva, put on your cellphone dude, I couldn't reach you.

Hmm, there's gotta be something round and shiny, I can play with

Hi Fuero, yeah, you really missed something!! Too bad you couldn't make it. The queen went to the Danstheater and we were pretty surprised to see all the cars on the square all of a sudden. We were kicked of like half an hour later, so I don't think it was because she came, but something else, otherwise we would have been kicked of before her arrival.
Anyway, funny that you're telling Telpeva to turn on his phone... I know he tried to call you but we couldn't reach you!
And Telpiva.. I don't know anybody in a kraakpand, maybe he meant the Blauwe Aanslag, which doesn't exist anymore..
It would be nice to practice inside, especially in winter!
Hope to see you all soon!
Kim

hey but wtf? why did the ME kick you off if the cops were enjoying it? as far as i know its legal as long as you have safety blankets and a fire extinguisher and you dont ask for money biggrin
next time, next time..

Heya Badger, you were here with the MUN? Hehe, it's a funny way of seeing the Hague I guess, everyone going just to a few bars, everyone trying to "score points" two points tongue!>, teenagers finally able to drink and blow...

It has it's charm, if you like it biggrin...
I hope it left nice memories in your brain, Scheveningen is nice by night... You should see the firework evenings ubblove...

At the moment the ME stepped up, we were just playing with tail-pois, fortunately ... He asked us if we had a license first, so I told him that we didn't need any because we didn't ask for money... but still he asked us to leave, 'for reasons that we unfortunately can not tell you"...
And 3 minutes later, while we were packing, another ME group asked us to leave... so something mysterious top secret police thing, whatever smile... Stout was nice as well to warm up with a nice beerchug

angry stupid ME (for the non dutch folk the Milatary Police), They can't stop extremists, but they can stop a few spinners. So the liscence thing was just an excuse to get you out of there. Maybe Hirshi Ali was there. (insiders dutch joke.)

In Utrecht they have Circus Jopie btw and they are open for free every thursday night from 20:00 till 22:00. But you can't train with fire off course.

Hmm, there's gotta be something round and shiny, I can play with

telpeva-The only reason we did mun is to get a weeks vacation in holland. It was me and my best friends doing it. We didnt care about the conference or the people at all. we ditched the conference at 12 everyday and spend the rest of the time smoking in the dunes. We went out to town once to have look but all i saw was a battlefield of dying american teenagers puking their brains out, so we turned around and went to a park.
we came from vienna, so we have non-existing drinking laws, so the whole "lets get drunk" thing didnt apply. all we did was spending our money in the coffee and smart shops, walkin around all chilled out.
a friend of mine crashed into the pond in front of the big government building downtown (parliament?) cause it was iced over and he thought it was a parking lot....ubblol

Wow, I didn't realise the military police were so active in Amsterdam.

The military police have no authority over civilians here, which is nice biggrin

Surprisingly, the last couple of times I've been spinning in Belfast the police and the fire brigade have stopped by for a look, but they just sat in their trucks and watched... ubblol

I guess a bunch of stoned hippy-types playing with fire is the least of their worries!

Hey guys, I can solve the riot police mystery for you - though it's Mot's story to tell really, so I'll leave the long & exiting version to him smile - there was a terrorist scare while the queen was in the Dans Theater eek

As far as the legality of fire is concerned: I called the Utrecht city Council a couple of years ago to ask them about busking with fire. Apparently there's no problem about it, it falls under the category of non-amplified music (yup, really!), for which you have to have a license, but the license is free. He said it was probably a good idea to check with the fire department because there are a few rules you have to comply with, i.e. you have to be x metres away from buildings etc. - but i don't think that should be a problem on a square like the Spuiplein smile So, as long as there isn't a drought (in November... in Holland.... biggrin) and an open fire ban I think we're in the clear!

Anyways, we're definitely up for Amsterdam next week, is it certain now that it's going to be Friday and not Saturday? Lampoil: how about everyone just bring what they need for themselves, and one of us an extra bottle for Firepoise? I'll bring chocolate milk and rum, but my thermos capacity is limited so if anyone else can bring some too (and plastic cups!) that'd be great...
And is there anything happening this coming weekend? We've got a friend visiting from Ireland who'd probably like to go for a spin, weather permitting...

Hey, we were in The Hague (almost as cool as Amsterdam ubblol). And yeah, ME is kind of an elite squad, that is specialised in riots and stuff, but also for special cases like protecting the queen!

I thought so!! That was the first thing I thought of when I saw that the ME wiped the whole square. They didn't really mind the juggling, but more us being there. If they had minded the juggling, they would have asked us to leave before the queens' arrival.

Anyway, enough about last saturday, let's talk about the 26th! Everybody bringing there own lamp-oil is the best idea I think. And even Firepoise can arrange some, or not?? (You can get it everywhere, so maybe your friends can buy it for you!) I really hope the weather isn't gonna suck, cause then I don't know whether I'm even gonna go to Amsterdam.
But let's be optimistic and pray for good weather!!

I arrive on Thursday night, so hopefully my friend Rod will show me where to get some Lamp Oil on Friday.

Hope you can make it... I'm sure there are lots of pubs and suchlike near the Vondelpark anyways, if it does rain biggrin

Hey Stickman,

I'm meeting my friends (it's a travellers reunion, that's why I'm going to be in Amsterdam), between 6pm and 9pm in the Kashmir Lounge.

I was hoping to see you all there, and then we could head on to a park afterwards...
