What I would like from you please is just one piece of advice.
It can be on any subject you choose,
serious or fun.
Poi, staff and juggling or life, love and happiness.

Here is my request from everyone on HOP, especially every single one of you lovely HOPpers that I've ever met.

I know that this is very difficult as I've been scratching my head trying to answer it for a week,so.

Big Thankyou

Drew

well, in some ways i'm stealing someone else's advice... it's advice they gave to me just recently... but i really really like it...

"just remember, there is no spoon."

and i have one piece of advice straight from my own heart, (sorry if i'm over the limit glass, they are just both so useful..)

"whatever else you do, learn not to hate. you don't have to love everyone, just don't hate."

no matter what they've done to you, or someone you love, or even if you think they are responsible for all the evil in the world, it's not worth the time energy or poison it will cause you to hate.

"Tomorrow is a new day"

I love that saying because it suggests letting go of the things troubling you, for a brief respite of sleep and awakening to new hopes and new opportunities.

It was a day for screaming at inanimate objects.

What this calls for is a special mix of psychology and extreme violence...

"It’s Just A Ride"

quote:
Originally said by Bill Hicks:
The world is like a ride at an amusement park and when you choose to go on it you think it's real 'cuz that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly colored and it's very loud. And it's fun, for awhile. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question "is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered and they come back to us and they say "hey, don't worry, don't be afraid - ever -because this is just a ride. And we... kill those people (laughs). (in a different voice) Shut him up. We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and my family. This just has to be real. (normal voice) It's just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that. D'ya ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter.... because, it's just a ride. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no jobs, no savings of money.... a choice right now between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your door, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world right now... to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defense each year and instead spend it feeding, clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded and we can explore space.... together.... both inner and outer.... forever, in peace.

OK, I don't know if this can be classified as advice, but this is my favourite quote (from Star Trk V, I think)!

"Just because we can do something, does not mean that we must".

I think that's very true on a lot of different levels from the global to the personal.

'Everyone deserves a good eye-poking once in a while'

Not incredably useful, but wise words when you consider that someone who dishes out regular eye-pokings is eventually going to deserve one themselves.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

"Never say never"

A kiss blown is a kiss wasted, the only kind of kiss is a kiss tasted.

I'm a woman. We don't say what we want, but we reserve the right to be pissed off if we don't get it. That's what makes us so fascinating and not just a LITTLE bit scary.

Before you can really believe in anyone, you have to believe in yourself.
If you take enough time, you can believe in anything, although it will take effort & committment.
If you take enough drugs you can believe in anything and it only takes half an hour...........although the pixies can never fully be trusted.

I thought of another one.

If you find that buttered toast consistantly lands butter side down, stop dropping toast. It's a waste of good toast.

Not good advice. But it's advice all the same.
