I have twirled with citronella quite a lot... it smells nicer than kero but it seems to burn slightly hotter. I have heard that it is supposed to burn at the same temp, but It feels hotter to me. It is just up to personal preference. If you live in melbourne, have you tried Juggle art's "Fire water" That is by far the best fuel.

A couple of my friends have used it, Despite it beind dearer the Kerosene, i think it might burn a bit hotter the Kero as well. But it keeps the mosquitoes away, and smell's better.

I'm not much help but my 2c's anyway.

Well, my mother was generous enough to buy me four litres of the stuff, and I read that it's not a good idea to change fuels rapidly and the last thing I used was Kero. I'm thinking of finishing off the kero before getting on the Citron.

I have used Firewater before, but it's a lot dearer than Kero. The counterperson at Juggleart even said that Kero was a good choice anyhow

Thanks for your input, peoples!

It takes not a chemical engineer to tell you that playing with any fuel is more dangerous than dating a deaf marmoset on a pogo-stick.

to re-iterate past freads about best fuel, pay for less smoke, less smell!

I would love to play with Citronella but its like this here in Cork
Citronella = €8 a litre
Lamp Oil = €4 a litre
Smelly Kero = 50c a litre

You can imagine how bad I smell

I do intend to invest on the citron if I ever do any fire twirling indoors though

Love is the law.

But being fire people means that we stink of kero....its just a fact of life. It does have its good sides though, I mean if I'm walking down the street and catch a wiff of kero on someone, I know I can just turn to them and say "Twirler?" and they will probably know exactly what I'm on about. I have made so many friends that way : )

Not all that twirls smells of kero.
I personally dislike the smell and have not knowingly twirled with kero for yeers.
but yeah when i started out, i used only kero for the first few months. I do go through that could be considered a 'stupid' amount of fuel, so kero quickly caused a heavy feelin' in mine lungs.
there is a better choice, and it don't give off much fume.
