Is it just me or are Paddy's answers less than helpful?

I haven't done french for ages. I brushed up on it a bit before meeting Cassandra last month but she turned out to be australian so it was all wasted.

Is one of them The Green Berets?

hmmmm.... well to translate stuff i go to Altavista - World/Translate (babel fish)

it helps me out a lot... but you have to make sure you have the spelling and everything perfect... along with the accented letters. ^.^ hope that's of some help to you.

oh yeah.. and sometimes it will translate just the words that are put in there... and you'll have to put it into the sentence or heading you think it should be as..... *shrugs*

HellCat, I'm Spanish/English bilingual and sometimes some of my bilingual friends exchange "Babelfish" translations for laughs.

I wish I could think of some of the funnier translations off the top of my head right now.

Usually Cassandra picks up faster than me on threads involving French, but she must have been out sick today.

The only one I know is:

= The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988)

A helpful ressource is www.imdb.com. Plug in the french title and do a search. It's an amazing cinema database.

L'homme qui vennait d'ailleurs = The Man who came from Elsewhere (abroad, somewhere else... well, you get the idea )

La Poursuite Des Tuniques Bleues = the pursuit (you know when you run after someone) of teh blue eerr... you know, the uniform soldiers used to wear like buffalo Bill or something.

Les Enchaines = sure you'll find it in the database Nomad mentioned. to be "enchained" is to beattached to someone with a chain but also means depend of that person ... you get the idea.

Le Grande Sommeil = "the great sleep" ???
L'homme quit va liberty = sweetie ... that is most probably NOT the right title cause it really does not mean anything ...
