Rather be empty than feel so sick that I want to throw up for months at a time.

Maybe, but when you're in the middle of getting your insides scooped out with a spoon (at least, that's how I think it feels), you tend to feel that an empty life would be almost better ubbcrying

cry not because its over. smile instead, because it happened...

or something.

anyway, i reckon its one of those things that needs to have both sides of the coin. the joy of being in love would pale and become worthless were it not for the pain caused by the emptiness of losing love. Its like having lots of money.sorta. if you have lots of money, and things cost money, then you get the full appreciation of what you have, while having lots of money, with everything being free, the money would become pointless.

Though you can't get rid of memories you can take their power from them; Picture it as a movie, turn it primary colours, upside down, whatever, it seems no longer real, do it enough times and it really does help.

the other way is to figure "In a hundred years who's going to care?"

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.

True, you will feel the pain of this for the rest of your life, but it will eventually become bearable. And as unlikely as this sounds to you right now, you will eventually be happy again. It'll take a long time... but someday you will realise that you're happy and not sad anymore... focus on that day, because it will feel like the world has lifted from your shoulders.

Take care chica xo

Is there any chance of going on holiday for a little while? Or even just going to stay at a good friend's house? If you're not working this weekend, take yourself away to somewhere beautiful... mountains or lakes or somesuch and just sit and think. Go somewhere were you won't be surrounded by memories and well meaning friends asking if you're alright every 20 seconds.

And try to do something utterly selfish ( wink ) everyday that's going to make you feel good - lots of treats, just because you deserve it goddamit.

Interestingly they are looking at medaction to do this as well as medication to never let you forget anything.

Alternatively I dug up some wisdom for you. This is from a great book called The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran

Written by:

Joy and Sorrow

Then a woman said, "Speak to us of Joy and Sorrow."

And he answered:

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.

And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.

And how else can it be?

The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.

Is not the cup that hold your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter's oven?

And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?

When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Some of you say, "Joy is greater than sorrow," and others say, "Nay, sorrow is the greater."

But I say unto you, they are inseparable.

Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.

Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.

Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.

When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall.

Sorry for your pain. Passing of time and degradation of memory is natures evolution to help us get over the sadness that sometimes envelops us.

The pain will leave and the residue it leaves will be of use to you in the future. To lose that is to lose the lesson you will learn. hug

nah, you have to fall in love - cos otherwise you won't know what it is.

And experience, no matter how euphoric or unpleasant at the time, is always worth it.

(though, that sounds a bit crap coming from some person you don't know on the internet from somewhere else in the world... but hey, spinning fire is still fun smile )

Oh god. I'm so sorry darlin... I know (roughly) how you feel right now.

Cyber hugs aren't going to make a bit of difference, I'm afraid.

But I (and I'm sure all the others on this board) am thinking of you and sending you lots of positive thoughts and best wishes.

D'u think you'll be able to go somewhere for the weekend?

This weekend im not sure.. Since mechanical enigneering likes to give lots of homework.. i doubt i will ahve much time for anything... Usually though it was spent with my love, who is also an engineer. So its rough trying to find new things to do, because everything that i DO do reminds me of the past.... I just want to pack up and move somewhere else, fresh start. Any ideas? who will give me free housing?? I can be your pet engineer ::puppy face:::

Interesting thing about chocolate... it contains the "love" chemicals that the female brain produces when "in love" Im not going to go on a huge scientific post about this.. but yeah thats why almost all women love chocolate. Interesting eh?

As for drugs.. yeah wish i could loose my mind on some nice mush mush hehe .. but that would only lead to a bad trip im sure of it. Boozing helps temporarily, but i find that doing anything to relieve the pain that i am experiencing only makes it worse. Just got to sort this out.. poi helps, dancing helps, music helps, partying helps, being around good vibes helps, being an engineer with huge stress doesnt...

Yeah, I know about the chemicals thingme... that's why chocolate is my friend rolleyes ubblol

Your experiences with the drugs/alcohol and heartbreak mix are the same as mine... they just made me wallow more. And, worse, made me lose the perspective to keep going... yep, you'll sort it out... eventually. This time now is the unpleasant healing and pain time. Stick with the good vibes... anything that will make you smile a bit.

And I would still recommend going somewhere new or doing something different over the weekend... (mechanical engineering can wait, goddamit!!)

Anyways, work's finished and I'm off home to bed, so goodnight, take care and look after yourself sir.
Much hugging hug
