Silly game, but I'm bored. I'll write some song lyrics, you tell me the artist and song.

Then write your own and the fun will continue biggrin

Something easy to start off with:

A friend in need's a friend indeed
A friend with weed is better
A friend with breasts & all the rest
A friend who's dressed in leather

†.You've got invisible fangs and cherry nun bangs,
Your erotic cabaret is non stop
You're wearing too many belts
And I bet they leave welts
Shut up and dance cause I wanna pop.†

We are the music makers, We are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers, And sitting by desolate streams;
World-losers and world-forsakers, On whom the pale moon gleams;
We are the movers and shakers of the world for ever, it seems.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alienation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
For that's enough to argue.

An easy one...

With a bit of a mind flip

You're into the time slip

And nothing can ever be the same

You're spaced out on sensation

Like you're under sedation

Not sure on the "I am war, i am pain, i am all you've ever slain" but is sounds familiar. It's not Slayer but probably some death\black metal band...

Ok, it's "House of the Rising Sun", made famous by The Animals. They covered it after they heard Bob Dylan perform it on his very first album (way back in 1961 or '62 I think) but it was around for quite a while before that. I've only ever seen it credited as "Traditional" under the authour. Anyone else got anymore clues?

OK, my bad. I was wrong. I thought Eric Burden & The Animals did it before Bob Dylan. I've not got any clue how far it goes back before that. but I'm interested now.

And Now I know.

In the United States, The Rising Sun, a song with roots in 17th century British folk melody -- the rising sun has been a longtime symbol for brothels in British and American ballads -- circulated widely among Southern musicians, black and white. Black bluesman Texas Alexander first recorded it in 1928. [Roy] Acuff [who commercially recorded the song on Nov 3, 1938] may have learned this number from such neighboring Smoky Mountain artists as versatile entertainer Clarence Tom Ashley or the Callahan Brothers, an influential duet team of the '30s and '40s.

If that's close enough then here's one (a tad obscure I know - bet kombi Guy can guess it though):

And when your tight for the rent
You think your gonna break
But you know that if you bend
Your just one more phony on the take
You'd better go

it's iggy pop. i dont care what the song's called, the artist is enough

this one's crazy obscure, super-kudos to anybody who gets it

woke up, broke free, drove a long time
it didn't purge you from my mind
hang up the halo mabey you're right
chalk it up to a stary night
to be set free to live and learn
did we pass or fail the term?
you wrote a note with chalk on my door
a message i'd known long before
on any given day you'll find me gone
