I've been juggling clubs for a while.

but now I have left the confinds of London. And I'm of for a trip a round the world. ubbloco juggle clap bounce2 bounce

As im not in the greatness of the London juggling and spinning clubs. I thought that I would start this of to keep up with you lot.

And to keep you informed of what is out there in the big wide world.

So the latest moves that I am working on are.

1 Flats:

most of all im trying to do flat back cross.

But also 522 combos with one of the 2's caught under the leg

also box and 441's

2 stalls:

Im trying all type of stalls on different places, feet legs, shoulder and the chin.

do you have any more to add to this.

that I could be trying

On Friday i bought the Buffalo (New York) IJA championships dvd. It's got some class acts on it.

From the Juniors comp - there is an amazing act by some guy from Tokyo, does only three balls but does it in time to some hard-ass techno, truly amazing tricks, very fast hand movements. The guy who won was pretty, er...good too.

Teams - The Stanford Research Juggling group, or something are superb, with some *really* nice passing patterns. Vova and Olga did a truly amazing routine with passing up to 10 clubs, 9 club ultimates, 7 club ultimates back to back.

Solo - Luke Burrage doing what Luke does.

Jay Gilligan doing 2clubs, 2balls and then 2balls and 2rings. juggle

Thomas Dietz. Won the competetion with some awesome juggling (what did you expect!)

Emile Carey (i think!) - a dropless bouncing routine.

All in all and amazing dvd. Lots of cool juggling, good routines, but it's all for the competitions (i think except maybe Luke's stuff) so it's not got your average stuff watching guys in the gym. The overall standard is excellent tho. Well worth the price if you can get it.

good day gentlemen,

right can anyone help me out with my siteswap knowledge,

i've been trying to get a really nice solid 50505 pattern, in the hope that it will help my 5 ball out, its not the easiest pattern on the planet so i've been dropping it into my async shower and using it to change direction; its definatly helping the 50505 pattern, but i can't for the life of me work out what i'm doing in terms of siteswaps, i've tried various different things with my siteswap program but to no avail. Getting from 50505 to 51 on paper, anyone got any ideas/clues? i'm stumped:-)

3 ball shower to shower the other way by way of a 3 ball snake?

its just a matter of states pat - take a 5 from the end of your snake and stick it on the front and try working it out again.

i.e. write 50505 as 55050 - that way the shower leaves you in the correct state to juggle the snake:

(51)55050(51)

is that what you were after...?

cheers coleman, oh mate, is exactly what i wanted to know, whats more, thats what i've been thinking about all day as well, (although i hadn't pieced it together with my above query just yet), i'd explain what i was thinking but since you already know there really isn't much point.

I'm still gutted that i didn't get to meet you at OK, i should have spent the night out in the woods really..... At some point i shall venture up to spittlefields, but id rather get my 5 ball pattern sorted before i come and play with the big boys:-)

i've been working on doing this (51)55050(51) and cutting down the amount of 51s i do, (i've been getting quite serious with my time and motion studies as of late, so that my practice time is used as effeciently as possible). It looks really nice when i start with a run of the shower then do a 55050 then three 51s on either side, then two then one and into the snake. plus after spending a whole day messing about with 5 throws and managing to get past 20 throws several times (i think my run of 50 must have been somewhat of a fluke, honestly it did happen) i had a go at 5551 and it just made sense and went round a few times, on boths sides, hopefully i'll get my head round the whole sticking a four on the end soon.

next question if i can rearrange 50505 to make (51)55050(51) how do i get 531 to go into 51? is it possible?

sorry if i'm supposed to spend ages working it out on bits of paper for myself, it just seems a little bit more sensible to come and ask people who know it all already.

damn these numbers, now i know what a calculator must feel like

you need to look up 'state transition diagrams' (or std's if you want to use an ambiguous abbreviation).

51 is excited state which means you can't go from cascade directly into it (you would normally throw a 4 first to start a shower).

55050 is the same state as 51 so you can go between them with no transition throws.

531 is ground state (which means the same state as a cascade) so you can start it from a cascade with no transition throws.

don't have time to explain it all cos i have to actually do some work today (you should find articles on jis or jugglingdb to show you how to use std's) but to answer your question, since 51 and 531 are different states, you have to make a transition between them:

(51)2(531)4(51)

there are transition generator programs available on the net that will generate all possible transitions between two siteswaps for you - have a look around smile

2bags, I was working on this at the weekend and can get 3 throws and catches doing weave and mikes mess with balls. you have to get the under the arm throw quite high to avoid the poi chains and it still looks a bit messy but IS possible. can do the 3 ball cascade quite solid now but you really have to get chain length and poi weight just right so the timings match. by the end of summer 2005 it will be sweet. weavesmiley juggle

A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

i wrote a lovely email with an order for 10 beanbags to fergie props over two weeks ago and this is the reply i got today.

Written by: fergie

Dear customer,

In order to allow myself sufficient time to prepare inventory to sell at

the IJA Juggling Festival in July and to fill the many mail orders that I

already have in hand, I will not be accepting any new mail orders for

Fergie Bags until August 1, 2005. Please contact me on or after that date

if you wish to purchase Fergie Bags by mail order.

If you're attending the IJA Festival, you can stop by my table and purchase

from the inventory that I will have for sale there. However, be advised

that I expect to sell out most of my inventory within the first few days of

the festival, so please stop by early if you wish make a purchase. (Visit

https://www.juggle.org/festival/
for IJA Juggling Festival details.)

Thanks for your patience and understanding. Happy juggling to all!

--

Michael Ferguson (a.k.a. Fergie)

i.e. i didn't read your email till today and now i'm not going to take your order as i'd rather sell my stuff at the ija convention than sell it to you confused

this is especially annyoing as i only had a short time to get my order in, since fergie has only been taking orders since april this year (due to the high demand for his product).

i understand his product is extremely popular but i'm sure his success is not due to the quality of his service.

i have found him slow to respond, his demeanour to be extremely impersonal and as a result, can't help but feel a little let down - this order was my birthday present and i have been looking forward to it for some time frown

i would say customer service is dead if i hadn't an almost opposite reaction from my usual supplier of beanbags ubblove
