I've actually been a fan of Ozzy (I mean Ozy himself, not just his music) since I was about 17 when I saw him on TV with Donny Ozmond (Ozzy and the Ozmonds!) and they were both speaking out against the cencorship of music (this is when the government was trying to get rating for albums which eventually resulted in the "parental advisory" stickers). They were both really well spoken during the debate (on some TV show like '60 minutes' or '20/20') and they both won my respect by the end of it. Ozzy is a pretty sharp guy (or at least used to be), even if he doesn't always show it.

Never met Ozzy, but I would like to have a conversation with him someday though.

Music celebrity encounters I have had:

I got into a verbal tiff with Micheal Stipe once in a bar in Austin (he is a censored if you ask me)

I once shook hands with David Bowie (I'm not an autograph kinda guy).

Gibby Hains (sp?) of the Butthole Surfers sort of adopted me for a few months - he saw the incident I had with Micheal Stipe and I think he thought it was funny. Gibby is a bit annoying to know though, and tends to scare off females...

Ozzy's definitely an inteligent guy under all that mumbling (i reckon a lot of that is put on for the show)

i met Lloyd Cole in about 1986, shook his hand, got his autograph (i was 16 and i thought he HOT)

in 1988 i met Suicidal Tendencies. myself & a few friends ended up at an after-gig party with them (no, i was not a groupie!)

in 1988 i also met Metallica. James Hetfield was my icon at the time. we met them on the street in Dublin and they ended up coming for beers with us in our local. that was soooooo cool! cool really nice guys (though i lost all respect for Lars Ulrich after he went on the campaign against Napster)

i met various members of U2 a couple of times.....

last year i went up to Derry to see Fugazi coz the Dublin gig was sold out. they were sitting next to us at breakfast in the hotel the next morn. ended up chatting for ages, lovely fellas ubblove

Dublin's a pretty good spot for bumping into famous faces. it's more like a "big town" than a "small city", it's got a nice laid back buzz. celebs can usually stroll around hassle free

My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely smile
