A possible new trick (?) unless it already has a name and i just dont know about it yet. Anyways, this is the easiest way to explain it:

1. left hand swings the poi in a backward rotation, across the front of the body from left to right side as one would do in a backward weave

2. right hand swings poi in a foreward rotation, across the front of the body from the right to left side as one would do in a foreward weave.

3. Now do them together, but the trick is to split the timing so they dont hit each other, or your face.

- it was easiest to learn crossing the poi with the left hand (the one going reverse) always on top of the right hand, a good distance apart. After that is comfortable, you can switch from left on top to right on top. It also helps at first to have someone stand behind and do one of the hands while you do the other. Is this a new trick, or am describing something framiliar?
thanks!

one poi forward, one poi reverse.. altogether 4 different ways..... two different ways with foward bf right and reverse left... and 2 different ways of reverse right and forward left...

Doesnt sound like a bf weave cuz she doesnt talk about doing more than one beat. Sounds like a split time butterfly cross over to me.

1) butterfly weave can be as simple as butterfly in front and buttterfly behind the head.. 2bt butterfly weave..

2) it is split time so it will probably be odd beat...

3) she says that you take it

Well, I dunno. Depends weather or not you consider a normal crossover a weave. I personally dont, its just a crossover to me. A weave to me is anything with 3 or more beats and it involves 'weaving' your arms round each other. In this case, it sounds like her arms are just crossing to the other side of the body and back again making it a crossover. biggrin

I dont consider this a weave either... Guess its all just in the eye of the beholder.

Either way, to answer the question at hand, no this is not a new move... But congrats on learning it yourself and feeling good about it. Keep up the good work and Im sure you will find new ones some day.

yes but if I'm not mistaken doesnt a split time butterfly taken from one side to the other produce a 3bt motion most often?

all the same congrats gwenny..

I think this sounds like a 2-beat split-time butterfly weave smile Note that one hand is always dominant (on top).

gwenny - if you can do this changing the hand on top each time then you're doing a 3bt butterfly weave... your hands should be doing the same motion as in a regular weave smile
