I just thought that I'd say that I have now tried Vegemite, Marmite, and Nutella.

Vegemite and Marmite are OK. Not wonderful, not awful, but OK. And completely identical.

Nutella, on the other hands, is the manna of the gods. It is an orgasm in a jar. It is pure joy and goodness.

I just wanted to throw that out there. juggle

Fair comment if you haven't had them before...kinda like tequila and vodka are OK. Not wonderful, not awful, but OK. And completely identical. (To someone who has never drunk liquor before...)

And for the record, I can eat all three of the above with a spoon, and much prefer marmite and nutella to vegemite...

I've never understood the whole people liking marmite thing. I'm a hater myself, I've tried it in the past and it has to be one of the most vile things I've ever tasted.

As for nutella, much prefer just plain chocolate spread, it's great melted then poured on ice cream by the way as it goes hard and cracks when you eat it! biggrin

Never understood the whole nutella and peanut paste thing. But then I dont like nuts.

Mites are a whole different thing. I can understand the girl who brings 7 jars of Marmite from England with her. The sad thing is they didnt last the trip I dont think wink wink

but it makes me smile to know that happiness can be found in a jar....Yay Lightning!!!

Has marmite been mentioned in any 80's pop songs though? I had to take a pot of vegemite to a friend in Michigan simply because it was mentioned in a (possibly) Men At Work song. In return I got "Potted Meat Food Product"

Barf.

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.

Ok I am a coniessur (sp)

I am definatly tri-spreadable but only if there is no marmite available... marmite is the god of all... nutella is a demi god... and vegemite is only a high priest...

now to clarify a few things... UK marmite does taste exactly the same as vegemite IMHO

new zealand marmite is less bitter than UK marmite and its a lot sweeter and its YUMO!!!

nutella has its own merits... (it rocks with chocolately goodness)

and I can stomach vegemite when there is no marmite avaliable.

but it aint the bomb.

yum

Tesco do Vegemite too, that caused a huge problem when they first started selling it as all my relos didn't know what to send me for Christmas any more.

Have any of you made nutella cake? Make the usual 4 oz sponge and swirl nutella into the batter before baking. Then sit back and eat the lot.
