Posted:One of my favorites is 'discombobulate'. Means confused. The first place I heard it used? On an episode of fracking 'Neighbours' of all things back in the early 90s. "Daphne.....I'm discombobulated." I was like WTF!?

Others:

Concatination: a series of interconnected or interdependent things or events.

Contumacious: Willfully and obstinantly stubborn.

As an aside, does anyone remember the episode of Black Adder where the guy who creates the first dictionary comes to see Prince George. Black Adder decides to screw him because he thinks he has EVERY word ever used in the book by using words that don't exist.

"I hope you will not object if I also offer the Doctor my most enthusiastic contrafribblarities."

"Oh, I'm sorry, sir. I'm anus-peptic, phrasmotic, even compunctious to have caused you such pericombobulation."

"Certainly, sir. I shall return interphrastically."

another favourite is "floccinaucinihilipilification" credited as the longest non-technical word in the english language, its meaning?
"The act or habit of describing or regarding something as worthless. "

fun to say because it's like delicous, but even better.
"arousing or appealing to sexual desire or imagination. See also lustful, lecherous, and lascivious." (which happen to be good words, too.)

Posted:My two favourite words which haven't cropped up yet:

Sussurus (noun) / sussuration (verb) (english): the whispery sound that a field of corn makes when it's waving in the breeze.

Sgriob (Scottish Gaelic): The ticking sensation on your upper lip just before you take a sip of whisky.

Hehe, also "canoodling" -- kissing, cuddling and being all coupley. It's a slang word I've only ever heard in the South Welsh Valleys, and hilarious in a proper welsh accent! (the stress is on the middle "noodl" syllable).

It definately isn't Welsh in origin, so you're probably right. I have friends who speak both of those languages so I'll ask next time I see them.

Whichever languange it's oringinally from, I guarruntee it's funnier when shouted in a valleys accent! I still remember hiding with my first girlfriend at the back of my high school's DT workshop one lunchtime, only to hear a teacher yell "You'd better not be canoodling back there" redface

Aah, the scars our teachers give us...

And another good word to justify this post: emoliate -- to sooth or heal. I don't know the root, but I suspect it's Latin and the same root as the French "emolier" -- to improve.
