Nope, no style really, just a combination of transferred staff/poi moves and poncing about...
I've been on a mission that "anything you can do with poi you can do with double staff" (apart from the obvious loops and wraps and stuff), so a pair of swords is nice because they're missing the other end

Yeah - I've been mixing up poi and double broadsword stuff.
Lots of weaves & butterfly stuff.
Interesting point about the stabbing motion burning your arm hair - never thought of that but can see it happening very easily.

Just finished prototype sword and glaive for Gnor. Learning lots.

Single edge one-handed sword. Guard has knuckle bow to protect hand (limits flourishes though). Made from springsteel forged blade. Fuller (blood groove to the masses) has four pairs of small holes drilled. 2 layers kevlar wicking secured with wire staples. Holding well, fights fine. More info as we play. Photos of the glaive to come. More pics of the sword too.

Glad you like it. Makes a good grip even if you get some fuel on the handle.
To summarise the handle.
Full tang through to end of pommel and rivetted over.
Wooden plates shaped and glued in place.
Cord wrapped around in spiral pattern and glued down. Nice for fingers to grip.
Pig skin stitched in place and hot water used to shrink it in place.

Hey y'all - I haven't been too active on the boards, but I thought people on this thread might be interested:
I've been working on some more fire swords - the original ones were 27 inch chinese broadswords (Darn Dao), wrapped with 2 inch kevlar, secured with bailing wire. These have lasted since October.
The one I'm constructing now is an altered 9-ring chinese broadsword - the idea (so far!) is removing the rings, wiring on a double layer of 2 inch kevlar (through the holes), and then maybe putting the rings back in.

methinks it's entirely important to cover as much of the blade as possible. even a blunted cutting edge will burn a huge scar. I have a scar from 2 years ago on my arm from a tiny touch of a blade's edge from this(!)

Being one solid chunk of metal, it's a bit heavy to swing around with one hand, and the burn time isn't great - maybe 2.5 - 3min, as clocked by musashii - although what do y'all think about stringing rope wick (big thick stuff) through the rings ? (musashii's idea that I haven't had a chance to implement yet...)

In my mind, firesword demands as much respect as a sharpened sword, such as used in iaido, without that respect, they become much more dangerous.
