Hi there,

Sometimes I read Posts, people are complaining about Windows´ Video Format in.
Dunno why excatly, but if its because they are running linux - here´s the solution:

Download the win 32 libs
This is an RPM, but just copys the libs to /var/lib/win32 - nothing more.

If you like to watch CSS encrypted DVD´s later as well, you will need the libdvdcss Files
decompress, change into Directory, call ./configure;make;make install

Then download the
Xine Lib which is approx. 6MB
again decompress, change into Directory, call ./configure;make;make install

now update your /etc/ld.so.conf.
Add /usr/local/lib if you didn´t before and run /sbin/ldconfig

Next Step is to download a User Interface for the Xine VideoPlayer. I prefer this one
and once again decompress, change into Directory, call ./configure;make;make install

You now may start the xine Player. The Win32Libs location will automatically be recognized as it seems to be the default location for such libaries. Enjoy...

PS: This may also work with Mplayer... Let me know, if I can help you...

In general.

i think that everyone should go back to running dos. and videos could be different shaded full block characters, or we could even go to startling 16 colour vids. i spose, on the bright side, they'd take all of a second to download, even if you're on dial-up :P
