I thought I saw someone spinning poi on a commercial for this talent show "Steve Harvey's Big Time" Didn't watch it, though, so I don't know for sure.

the shaolin monks are awsome, though they are kinda being exploited, did anyone see an add for the movie Shaolin Soccer?, sad that, its interesting that he was doing poi, since i know they do rope dart and all, i think it would be awsome to create a sort of shaolin nuns sort of thing, you know, shaolin for the girls(head shaving optional) anybody with me?, come to think of it i guess that would be exploiting them too, >>>>luv

I went to see Van Helsing last night and guess what?.....Theres poi in it! Does anyone know of any vampires that spin regularly? in fact not just spin but do trapeze and ribbons as well.
Now that ive seen at least 8 people spinning in a hollywood blockbuster, does this mean that poi is mainstream? or does it just make vampire films even cooler? weavesmiley

Frodo, you are absolutely right. i forgot about that. does this mean that poi has been pigeonholed into the vampyr genre, because thinking about it i'm sure i saw buffy pull off some poi moves with a brick in a bag once. hmmmmm confused

i think we should rename this thread poi spotting, then start another subculture of poi spotters, who can also specialise into vampyr poi spotting if they so wish, or poi spotting from trains which combines two popular spotting hobbies....

There is a scene in 'Batman Forver' where Alfred bumps into Robin in the laundry room offers to sort his clothes out for him but Robin refuses then proceeds to dry his clothes using an assortment of martial arts moves INCLUDING a 3-BEAT WEAVE for a couple of seconds.

There's also some nice doubles firestaff moves in 'Lilo & Stitch'. Stitch has four hands..... smile
