When the board migrated to this new version I asked people what functionality they would like. The response was great, although I couldn't do everything everybody asked for. Anyway, I'd like to ask that question again, so:

What functionality would you like integrated into this community?
Anything that you've seen on other boards you think might benefit HoP?
Anything that annoys you about the board at the moment?

All suggestions and ideas are greatly appreciated. Please post your suggestions here or PM me.

Thanks! smile

erm, in regards to the definitive posts on whatever, feel free to email me with relevant stuff at

and i will do my best to conglomerate it into a big, easily understandable post. Dont hold your breath about it being finished in a week though.

-----------------------------

Ooh, and could we get frames? so that the top little link bit is always visible? or one down the side? And a 'new posts' page sounds really really cool. twould save lots of hunting around. And a spellcheck option would be awesome, especially when you type a really loong thread, and have to edit it 20-odd times cos you keep seeing spelling errors. And an option for male/female on one's profile would be nice as well, as would a photograph/mugshot option. And i have the same problem with mozilla and the drop down box thingies. And im not sure about how the current PM thing works, but if it was an instant thing, that would be pretty cool too. And me saying and a lot less would be good as well.

Thanks biggrin:D

Threaded PM's PLEASE?

Its really hard (for people like me) to try and remember what we originally said.

Please??

I'd love threaded PM's as well.

Using the current save PM you send has helped some, but I frequently forget to check that box which can be frustrating at times.

one thing i was thinking about, was a chat function thats actually on/part of the boards, in real time. would prolly be really hard to do, though.

you mean like the 'irc hop live chat room' link at the top of the page?

anyway, something that just happened that really pissed me off was i was trying to send a PM, but forgot to fill in the subject. the next page told me to fill in all the fields, so i went back, and the entire message was gone.

is that a HoP problem or is my computer f$%#ed?

umm, IE tends to kill all of the stuff in fields if you hit back - its a security feature, so people can hit back, and read stuff about you. and i was thinking of a chat room thats actually linked to the login for homeofpoi forums, so we dont have to worry about nicks and stuff, and so that profiles etc are available on HoP.

I had an idea, although it's just an abstract thought really...

In light of all the "Is there anyone in xxxxx" threads - could we get a global map and everyone puts a pin in where they are?

Would be quite intesesting methinks - you could even have like big flags for where there are weekly gatherings smile

Not too much to ask is it?

Well, I've found a free one which I'll put up when I get home
But it's limited to 100 "pins" - The Pro version still limits you to 1000 pins, as this site has 7000+ members, not sure it would be that useful smile

Yeah but a lot less than 1000 regular posters. Maybe 1000 could be useful? Or rip the programming and make one that goes to 10000! :d

i'll have a talk to some of the computer science people i know at university. could be a while in happening, though.

Why not just get a world map, and have people put their details in?

ya i like that idea of a map! perhaps we could do multiple entries for the people who live in the same town (i.e. one pin that lists everyone in that area). it would cut down on the number of pins needed.

perhaps to account for people in the same town/city, the colour of pin thing represents how many are there?

not sure if its been mentioned before - should maybe there be a forum for music?

arguements for:
- many of us are passionate about music, but sick of newbies popping up and asking what music we listen to. this would solve that problem, and allow US to see what each other listens to.

against:
-malcolms bandwidth cost would probably rise reasonably.
-this is a firespinning board - if you want to chat music go to one of the million other music forums on the net.

well? confused

but if we went to a music forum and talked about what everyone likes to spin poi and listen too they wouldn't know what the hell we were talking about and would have to link them here to find out and then they'd all ask what music we like to spin our poi too! It's a vicous cirlce! wink
