An Irish Blessing

May there always be work for your hands to do;
May your purse always hold a coin or two;
May the sun always shine on your windowpane;
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;
May the hand of a friend always be near you;
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Sucks doesn't it! This year will be the first in ages that I have not organised a ceili or some form of entertainment! However I will stick on some trad CD's and make some Irish coffees tonight to have a mini-celebration!

Even google has a special logo for today! Personally the only christian celebration I get involved in is Xmas being the non-religious sort so I'd love to wish you to have a good one but I don't actually understand the historical point of celebrating St Paddys and who celebrates it. Excluding the drinking part of course!!! beerchug biggrin

Um I don't think many people do biggrin When I first suggested holding a St. Patrick's Day festival in Japan the local Board of Education were 'ooh er, I don't think so as they had a policy of not promoting religions' however when I explained that St. Patricks Day had evolved into a celebration of Irish culture, music, dance, and of course DRINK, they were all for it! It has evolved into a celebration of 'The Craic' rather than of Paddy himself - who wasn't even Irish, and I bet he never touched a sup of guinness in his life wink

Every country should have a national holiday that celebrates, um celebrating!

Every country should in fact have about 5 national holidays that celebrate celebrating! or maybe they could have one about once a month! that would be nice, and not quite so guinness or shamrock orientated!
That is a nice poem too Kat... the bit about my purse holding a coin or two was the only discrepancy that seemed a little optermistic for this stage of the week! smile

OK we might be on to something here! If you send an email to whoevers in charge of the united kingdom of america and i'll get on to my boss at the welsh assembly i reckon we could have a monthly "Celebrate Day" going in time for the summer. all we need is enthusiasm, optimism and maybe a large quantity of sedatives!

We sing this song round campfires, tis beautiful (but I can't sing so it will be typed!)

Irish Blessing (tis called)
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sunlight shine upon your face
The rain fall softly on your feet
And until we meet again some day
May god hold you in the palm of his hand
May the memories that we have shared
Linger on and on

(Very special song for me, lots of lovely Austrian campfires)

Happy St. Patricks day, and Happy Birthday Alicia! wave

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

Walk on the Hill of Tara, cruise through Slane abbey where St Patrick is meant to have lit his light then firespinning and a few pints.

St Patricks day will never be the same again.

Is it the Truth?
Is it Fair to all concerned?
Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?
