ok, so recently we discovered that my good self, Kiwi Bex and Kit are rather long compared to our peers....so we've started a tall spinners club!!

Rulez are.....you have to be 6 feet+ for men (183cm) and 5'10" (178cm) for women to join..but to make it interesting and a little fairer I've added a few other things in.

Now I want people to be honest, if you have over and above measurements of all or any of the following you may join, or you can be 5'9" tall (177cm) if you're Scottish and female!. (oh and please use both Metric and Imperial measurements so we all know what you're on about! 1 inch = 2.54cm. 1 foot = 12 inches/30.5cm) And yes all measurements are being recorded in a data base to so I can have a look and see if there's anything interesting happenning (yes I'm that bored at work)

Measurement to be taken are (with minimums)

Height = M 6'+ (183cm) F 5'10" (178cm)

Handspan (hand spread flat, tip of pinky finger to tip of thumb) = M 7"+ (17.5cm) F 5.5" (14cm)

Foot length = M 9"+ (23cm) F 8" (20cm)

And add anything else you may think is interesting, (unusually long appendages included....no not that!! eek) that may qualify you to join our club!

*editied to be fairer for slightly smaller Female varieties of tallness* biggrin

Do I count??

I'm only 5'10" (178cm)
BUT..

my handspan is 10" (25.4cm)
My feet are 10.5" (26.7cm) and UK size 11

Does this make me horribly out of proportion??

This thread is getting slightly confusing....

I found this:
"The average height for a British woman is 1.62 metres (5 feet, 4 inches). But those who were between 1.51 and 1.58 metres were most likely to be married and to have children by the age of 42. This relationship held true even after accounting for social class.
The study also found that women prefer men who are taller than average. A man of 1.83 metres (6 feet exactly) was more likely to have a partner and children than a man standing at the average height of 1.77 metres (5 feet, 10 inches)."

It's talking about a study in England in Aug 2002 off of this site https://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99992667

I read somewhere that averages are shrinking. Where for American men it used to be 6', that is no longer true and 5'10" is the average. And for American women it was once 5'6" and is now 5'4", which seems about right for the women that I know.

BUT I think this game is somewhat jaded in the favor of men. Because the height of the average woman is so much less than the average man, I think this should be comparable.
Not that it matters. I am 5'10" so I qualify, but in fairness it should be based on gender too! wink

You know what they say about men with big feet....

... they have big shoes smile

i am 6ft 1 and a half (to be precise)
have size 13 feet
and my arm span is 6ft 2 and a bit so i am just strange as well......

I totally know what you mean...most of the time you feel normal size but when someone taller happens to walk past it's really weird cuz nobody is usually higher up than me!

Lanky gits! ubblol

And I can guarantee that when I'm at a gig the only person taller than me is standing about 4 metres directly in front of me! spank

A smidgen under 5' 10" (177ish cm), though my 4 X great grandfather was from Edinburgh, so that counts.

Hands about 8" across. Artistic fingers, you see.

Shoes UK 7, no idea how big that is, large enough that I can get the last reduced ones in a sale, but not so large that I can't get blown over in a hurricane.

Inside leg 34", BMI 20.15, body fat 22%, resting heart rate 56, heart rate after running up 5 flights of stairs 144, slight inspirational tachycardia but nothing to worry about. (Got a heart rate monitor yesterday, great fun, slightly worrying when it stops registering)

Up with tall people. I'll see you at altitude.

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.
