As everyone seems to have gone a bit poetry crazy today (which cant really be a bad thing) I just thought whats your favourite poem and/or poet?My favourite poem, is by my favourite poet, and here it is - Mad Girl's Love Song"I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;I lift my lids and all is born again.(I think I made you up inside my head.)The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,And arbitrary blackness gallops in:I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.I dreamed that you bewitched me into bedAnd sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.(I think I made you up inside my head.)God topples from the sky, hell's fires fade:Exit seraphim and Satan's men:I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.I fancied you'd return the way you said,But I grow old and I forget your name.(I think I made you up inside my head.)I should have loved a thunderbird instead; At least when spring comes they roar back again.I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.(I think I made you up inside my head.)"Sylvia PLath------------------Trance the sacred spiral dance.Love and LightSpiral'ride the spiral to the end, It may just go where no-ones been'

the best goldfinger song in my humble opinion is the cover they did of nena's 99 red ballons! and tool lyrics are very clever and poetic too. U said something about love poems, a good sort of love song is one night in spain by human waste project. I think cantus might agree that elation by the levellers is more a poem than a song too------------------Trance the sacred spiral dance.Love and LightSpiral'ride the spiral to the end, It may just go where no-ones been'[This message has been edited by Spiral (edited 01 April 2002).]

This is my second favourite poem, please note that it doesn't rhyme wink. It is also suppoed to have an emblem of a whip between each stanza, so I have substituted a *Elimination DanceBy Michael OndaatjeThose who are allergic to the sea*Those who have resisted depravity*Men who shave beards of in stages, pausing to take photographs*American Rock stars who wear Toronto Maple Leaf hockey sweaters*Those who (while visiting a foreign country) have lost the end of a Q tip in their ear and have been unable to explain their problem*Gentlemen who have placed a microphone beside a naked woman's stomach after lunch and later, after slowing the sound considerably, have sold these noises on the open market as whale songs*All actors and poets who spit into the first row while they perform*Men who fear to use an electric lawn-mower feeling they could drowse off and be dragged by it into a swimming pool*Any dinner guest who has consumed the host's missing contact lens along with the dessert*Any person who has had the following dream. You are in a subway station of a major city. At the far end you see a coffee machine. You put in two coins. The Holy Grial drops down. Then blood pours into the chalice.*Any person who has lost a urine sample in the mail*All those belle-lettrists who feel that should have neem 'an urine sample"*Anyone who has had to step into an elevator with all of the Irish Rovers*Those who have filled in a bilingual and confidential pig survey from Statistics Canada. (Une enquete sur les porcs, strictement confidentialle)*Those who have written to the age old brotherhood of Rosicruciians for a free copy of their book "The Mastery of Life" in order to release the inner consciousness and to experience (in the privacy of the home) momentary flights of the soul*Those who have accidently stapled themselves*Anyone who has been penetrated by a mountie*Any university professor who has danced with a life-sized cardboard cut-out of Jean Genet*Those who have unintentionally locked themselves withn a sleeping bag at a camping goods store*Any woman whose I.U.D. has set off an alarm system at the airport*Those who, after a swim, find the sensation of water dribbling out of their ears erotic*Men who have never touched a whippet*Women who gave up the accordian because of pinched breasts*Those who have pissed out of the back of moving trucks*Those who have woken to find the wet footprints of a peacock across their kitchen floor*Anyone whose knees have been ruined as a result of performing sexual acts in elevators*Those who have so much as contemplated the possibility of creeping up to one's enemy with two Bic lighters, pressing simultaneously the butane switches - one into each nostril - and so gassing him to death*Literary critics who have swum the Hellspont*Anyone who has been hired as a "professional beater" and frightened grouse in the direction of the Queen Mother*Any lover who has gone into a flower shop on Valentine's Day and asked for clitoris when he meant clematis*Those who have come across their own telephone numbers underneath terse insults or compliments in the washroom of the bay street Bus Terminal*Those who have used the folowing techniques of seduction: - small talk at a falconry convention - entering a spa town disguised as Ford Madox Ford - making erotic rotations of the pelvis, backstage, during the storm scene of King Lear - Underlining suggestive phrases in the prefaces of Joesph Conrad*Anyone who has testified as a character witness for a dog in a court of law* Any writer who has been photographed for the jacket of a book in one of the following poses: sitting in the back of a 1956 Dodge with two roosters; in a tuxedo with the Sydney Opera House in the distance; studying the vanishing point on a jar of Dutch cleanser; against a gravestone with dramatic backlighting; with a false nose on; in the vicinity of Macchu Pichu; or sitting in a study and looking intensely at one's own book*The person who borrowed my Martin Beck thriller, read it in a sauna which melted the glue off the spine so the pages drifted to the floor, stapled them together and returned the book, thinking I wouldn't notice*Any person who has burst into tears at the Liquor-Control Board*Anyone with pain*R.

It was a day for screaming at inanimate objects.

What this calls for is a special mix of psychology and extreme violence...

I consider the tunes of Bad Religion to be quite poetic. They are also one of my favorite bands of all time... Give me so much inspiration. smile------------------I dreamt that I ate a 10 pound marshmellow and then when I woke up, my pillow was gone!

Ooo, kinda weird, my cousin is good friends with the drummer (or somebody, don't remember who) of Bad Religion, he's a rodey for their tour right now, or soon, dunno winkI'm a fan of Plath, and Frost! Frost is so very good. Mending Wall! My FAVORITE way to enjoy poetry though is to sit with friends and read each others poetry, i write, and these are a few of my favorites, hope you guys enjoy, peace smile==One Light:One light surrounded by shadow,Everyone zooms by and you stop.Everyone is too busy,To see you lost in thought. You stare out blanklyAs they chatter away. Are they truly aware,That no one is here to stay? You see another person frozen,They have to be thinking a lot.Maybe they’ll understand you,Because they too are lost in thought.Unspoken, you make eye contact. You two are one.Do they understandHow easily everything is undone? How one action can change everything,You tear up as they nod. They are with you in silence,Together searching for god.Searching for meaning,Sending out a silent plea. They start to frown and say“Please stop starring at me”==Untitled:Have you ever felt likeThe people you talk to Just don’t care? They don’t really like you,Don’t want to be with you,Don’t want to be there? That what you sayIs either conceited,Or worse. That everyone else is hoping they could get a chance to talkfor a first. It makes you want to just sit down,Sit down and cry.It feels like the worst has come,You just want to die.Just want to be alone,Because other people want that too. They roll their eyes when you talk,Thinking “Common man, get a clue”Maybe people who already know you,Patronize you, and just smile and nod. When you talk like you are a megaphone,The new and improved voice of god.But maybe we all can feel like this. And maybe sometimes it is true.I just hope that overall,People don’t mind listening, do you?==Mediums:I want to cry in watercolorsAnd bleed out red paintI want to be inspiredTo have the foresight of the saintsTo create something beautifulIs all I want to doBut the only thing I'm good atIs spending time with youWherever I leave tearsI leave De Vinci as wellWhen I cry out there's MozartAnd excerpts about Dante's hellThe words I say to youResculpt your broken heartInto a modern MichelangeloA living work of artMaybe I'll never work with stoneOr use pencils and a knifeAnd it's alright that I can't paintBecause my medium is Life==some of my poetry is kinda trite, or generic, but it's me! Keep writing, or reading as the case may be. oh yeah, keep spinning too.-peace out- john
