whenever i go to a new website that involves poi, moves are called somthing totally different than what im used to, like thread the needle, and mexican wave, chase, fountain, isolations, etc. ive never heard of these b4, then i look at the lessons here and they all are familar moves that i do, but i call them something else, its weird how different people hae the same moves but call them sumthing different ubbloco

Yeah, I know what you mean.
I occasionally do a move that I call 'the randy badger' but it seems everyone else calls it a hyperloop confused

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

The problem of moves having lots of different names has another side to it:

There are also names that mean lots of different moves.

How many different things are all called a fountain?

i know what i mean when i say airwrap, but when other people say it, i'm not sure what they mean.

It tends to happen with move names that are vaguely descriptive but too open to interpretation.

Which is EXACTLY WHY all moves should be named after cartoon villains.

i rest my case

One's I've come across:

~ Weave = Chase = Cross-Follow-Chase
~ Windmill = Sunshine (Although this was only once)
~ Low Wave = Flamenco (Cause it looks like a skirt)
~ Mexican Wave = Alternate Overhead Butterfly (which it is)
~ Buzzsaw = Burn the nose (BTN)
~ Stalls = Stops

weave = spider

low wave = the wiggle = low reels(?)

i dunno if all the clubswinging terminology is really helpful, or a pain in the ass.

the name 'waistwrap' (now used pretty much exclusively here to refer to a behind the back waistwrap) is responsible for lots of confusion.

But confusion can be kinda fun sometimes. It not like it's life or death to get all our moves exactly the same as each other, quite the opposite. We're performers and hobbyists, not air traffic controllers smile

from now on I will always refer to the weave as the 'rum baa baa' the butterfly as 'the mutley' and hyperloops as 'that guy from inspector gadget who always said "I'll get you next time, gadget"' ubbloco
