It's forced perspective so to make it look ideal you need to stand in the right place, which is probably where the camera man is standing. It wouldn't have exactly the same effect in real because our binocoular vision would defeat the impact of the 3d illusion a little bit. But ive seen plenty of other forced perspective stuff in realand it's still amazing and it definatly still fools the eye.

Bluecat: that happened to me too but I got about 4 appear at the bottom of the first link,

they look fantastic, in Tenerife I saw all these sand "castles" that weren't castles at all... there were 2 elephants, properly standing up and a sphinx.... I'm not sure if they were made out of sand or what, I was about 7 and I thought the tap at the Octopus water park was really floating in midair.

that's really something, i can't even begin to imagine how long he's been practicing to be able to create those.
Another sidewalk chalk artist who's somewhat of a local in the summertime is Chalkmaster Dave. He's amazing! Nothing 3Dish, but fantastic art none the less. This guy usualy sets up in front of our regional library during busker fest so if anyone's going to visit Halifax sometime I reccomend finding him!

Wow, the forced perspective is really beleivable. I wish they would take some photos with people standing in the wrong spot just to prove to the viewer that it IS actually only 2-D. ubblol

Alot of those photos are years old. He is even better now.
Some of his new stuff is mind blowing, even more so than those above. PWB turned me onto him maybe 5 years ago and we've been following his art since...

eek *drool*

I've also seen a collection of his stuff from bad angles and I have to say I am constantly amazed. The perspective this man has, the grasp of sight line and perspective is something I can't even comprehend.

Simply amazing.

I love Kurt Wenner!

The guy who did the ones here is J. (forgot first name) Beever and he works primarily in Western Europe.

Coleman, the one I remember most well was this astounding rose bush growing out of the sidewalk. When I saw it all I could think was the song "There is a rose in Spanish Harlem". It was beyond realistic. In the photo he was bent over "smelling" a rose. I don't have a link as they are usually shared with me through email. Sorry.
