biggrin

I'm currently counting down the days to the 9th of February, which is when I fly out to Auckland, NZ.

I'm in New Zealand for about 3 weeks before heading over to Sydney for a while (I don't know how long yet), then to Melbourne for a while (I don't know that length of time yet either) and then hanging around in the rest of Australia for a while (can anyone spot a recurring theme with these brackets? smile)

At some stage, I'll be passing through New Zealand again to get the flight back here from Auckland.

What I'm after is anything people recommend I do, places I should go, people I should visit. That kind of thing.
My itinerary (I hate that word) is deliberately fluid, so, any ideas?

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Will do Rozi *starts adding stuff to the list of things to do* biggrin

I kicked myself when I found out that I was going to miss the NZ juggling convention.
The flight I booked was just after the cut-off date which meant the flights started getting cheaper, and they wouldn't let me change it without forking out another quite considerable wedge of cash which I really couldn't afford frown
However, it does mean that I'm going to be working for a week longer than if I'd have been going to the convention, which'll mean I can afford to stay longer and do other stuff instead smile

Bovrilmonkey is going to antipodiea frown

Weasel is going to Sweeten and JonCOF is going to Canatabarry frown

all of these places are a long way away

But Antipodeia is the long way awayest. Sometimes it is further than the moon. Probably.

Antipodenians! Look after The Bovrilmonkey and show him where to buy modelling balloons (He'll be taking some with him, but they will probably be all floppy and useless after he empties out all the opiates). He is a very nice and special person, and everbody should have one of him in a box for when they need him. Unfortunately that is not possible, so you will just have to make the most of him while he is there.

Oh, and make sure you ask him about The Magic of Poindexters biggrin

And Bovril! Remember to check your luggage carefully for Podieans. If one hits an Anti Podeian then noone knows for sure what will occur. But they will probably either

A) explode in a violent manner, reshaping any nearby continentental shelves
B) disappear in a total poff of nuthingness
C) gently fall over and lie around looking anticlimactic and a little embarrassed

I can put him in touch with a very lovely lad called Dentrassi who gave me a balloon flower. He is sure to have a stock of modelling balloons.

Does Bovvie make balloon umbrellas like Dom does?

I actually think the best model I've seen him do was the Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner (with an Acme bunch of dynamite, too). Fantastically impressive!

Rozi - i have not seen The Bovrilmonkey make a balloon umbrella

but i am sure that he could if he tried

bovril can make anything in the medium of balloon

because he has magic balloon fingers

and the amazing thing is that is only one of the several hundred magic facts about bovril

and have you seen bovrils huge fluffy purple poi?

they are magic too because bovril made them

well, actually his mum made them

but i think she is probably magic too, because she made bovril

If you're going the LA route then take a VERY good book as it's a real killer; last time I did it the US authorities plunked 2 jumbo's-worth of passengers into a small room with only 5 toilets and didn't let any of us walk around the airport while waiting for the transfer.

And wear one of those fetching white and red rugby shirts. You're bound to make loads of friends that way.

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.
