I was on the way to work and was reading a paper.
and you wont guess what was in it, anti-bubbles.
my god I thought what on earth are these.
have I been missing some part of the non existence of things some where around nowhere.
acording to the paper these non bubbles have been around for years.
whereas a bubble is a thin film of liquid enclosing a pocket of air, an anti-bubble is a thin film of air which encloses a pocket af liquid.
and what is better is that you and me can make them as well.

1. Fill a bowl with tap warter and a few squeezes of washing up liquid.

2. Scoop some of this mixture from the bowl into a jug.

3. Very gently poor the liquid from the jug on to the surface of the water in the bowl.

4. watch beneath the surface while varying the speed at which you pour.

5. If you get the speed right, you might see anti-bubbles form as the steam of the water flows beneath the surface.

Hope you all get a chance to see these. but be cearful we dont yet know the effects of these bubbles and what millions of them might do if they get FREE.

that sounds like soap bubbles filled with liquid, far from the direct opposite of bubbles which would warrant the name anti-bubbles.

So what is the direct opposite of bubbles?

So if an antibubble and a bubble touch, do they mutually anhiliate in a gigantic explosion?

dont worrry, we all say "metro" here wink

but it is true.

belgian scientists originally discovered them in Beer, as pure water, oil and summat else wouldnt produce them.

But it is true as i also read the story.

bubbles, are they like quarks, you get quarks and and anti quarks, you also get red and anti red quarks, then again anything which has properties of strangness and charm is weird enough anyway

quarks are a bit different to bubbles.
quarks come in six flavours.
bubbles come in just one (all the ones i've eaten have tasted of soap).
quarks are available in selected combinations of top, bottom, up, down, strange and charm (types of quark, not properties mind).
bubbles come in lots of sizes and while they tend to float around in groups they are rarely bound.
there's an anti-particle for each of the quarks - anti-top, anti-bottom, anti-up (yap dat fool), anti-down and so on...
we know there are antibubbles.
there are red, blue and green quarks.
most bubbles have all these three colours and more - i think solid red bubbles exist but only in the recent past and as such are undetectable to all but the most observant of nymphs.

current research needs and objectives:
what noise do anti-bubbles make when you burst them?
can say a fish get a small pot of air and a little loop and use it to blow antibubbles underwater?
can an anti-bubble exist in air?
or would that just be a drip...?

Matthew, just two points i would like to bring to your attention:

1) Did YOU not do physics at Cambridge? So, if Cole KNOWING this makes him a "supergeek", does this mean you forgetting it, makes you a retard?

2) I knew that Quarks came in 6 different flavours. I learnt that at AS-Level.

Yes, I admit it, I did physics (as part of Natural Sciences) at Cambridge. And where did I say that I didn't know it, or had forgotten it?

There are, in fact, anti-bubbles. I used to make them at lunch in highschool with my bottles of soda. I would just get a normal 20oz plastic bottle of soda (usually Pepsi or Coke) and drink some out of it so that the liquid was just slightly above the label. Then I would close the cap and set it on the table. If you then tap the side of the bottle at around the surface level, little dropplets of soda will pop out and form anti-bubbles and begin to sit and dance around on the surface of the liquid. After a few seconds, they pop and get assimilated back into the rest of the soda.

I didnt know what this was at the time and I just called them "sprinkle genies". Hearing about anti-bubbles, however, I have no doubt in my mind that this is what they were.

PS. If you try this yourself and it doesnt work, try leaving the bottle out for a day or two (cap on but make sure it has been opened to release the initial burst of carbination) as high carbonation seems to screw the effect up sometimes. Also, try tapping the bottle softer or harder.

Let's turn those old bridges we crossed into ashes.
We'll blaze a new trail,
and torch the rough patches.

Making the anti-bubbles is not a problem,

controling them and keeping them from forming a super collective and taking over the earth and devouring each of our souls and french frying our skin like some kind of demeted chip chef is.

While I can see the value in creating anti-bubbles I can not condone it's practice, we are not buddle gods. If we were our name would be BUBBLERA and there would be large statues of us in parks and children would quake in fear whenever we pass (they already do when martin walks by but that's another topic)

anti bubbles are dangerous just ask this guy over here

(man in street) I concur
