You've never heard of pancake day?You poor thing! smileTodays the day where we make a load of pancakes....that's what we do over here in Ireland anyway.I think that the tradition comes from using up all your flour and eggs before Lent...

If you want a REAL pancake, make the mixture with selfraising flour, put tons of meat and anchovies and cheese and pineapples and mushrooms and olives and tomatoes and banana and chilli sauce and a little bit of tomata paste on top, grill it in the oven for 5 minutes and have yourself one of the best foods in the world.A Panzza! "Shrove Tuesday (Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras or fetter Dienstag) is the day before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Since Lent is a time of abstinence, traditionally of meat, fat, eggs and dairy products (one wonders what was left) Shrove Tuesday's menu was designed to use up all the fat, eggs and dairy products left in the kitchen and storeroom. It is also a 'feast' to prepare for the time of 'famine' in the desert. In some cultures, it is traditional to eat as much as possible on Shrove Tuesday, sometimes up to 12 times a day."

Pancake Recipie:

10 g (4 oz ) plain flour
1 egg beaten
250 ml (1/2 pt) milk
Lard or Butter

Work the egg into the flour. Slowly add the milk, beating until there is a smooth batter. Melt enough lard in a frying pan to cover the bottom and sides of the pan. Once the fat is hot, add a little of the pancake batter. Cook until the pancake is brown underneath and then toss the pancake so that it turns over. Cook the other side.

Cover with whatever you want to eat them with... i recommend lemon & sugar, or nutella.

Then Eat.
