i find it difficult to class RHCP as rock, but ok, for the sake of it i'll agree wink i always spin to rock, metal etc. its great, fantastic beats, really up tempo, could there be anything better?! trivium is good, machine head, MCR, aiden, avenged sevenfold, bullet for my valentine, they're all great to spin to biggrin

ummmm...........anybody have any suggestions as to what i can put here?!

Classic Aerosmith
Old Motley Crue
and who can forget some good ole Metallica?
Ozzy...Shot in the Dark

I guess it takes some getting used to. I really love their new album.
in fact i'm hoping to perform with "the poet and the pendulum" at PLAY this year.

Right now Im enjoying chilling out to things like the Jayhawks, the first Buddha Lounge album, good ol bluegrass music, and some reggae dub.

But I have to admit, the best reactions I have gotten from an audience was when I was spinning to some off the wall things that no one expected:

Saturday Night Fever
Grease: the musical
DJ Yoda: How to Cut & Paste, the 80's edition. biggrin

I thought one person was going to asphixiate from laughing when I started spinning to Hand Jive, on the Grease soundtrack. GO showtunes!!

....course....Im a full-fledged spindork.

That's an excellent one! I used to go to this MidEastern cafe where a couple of patrons would bring instruments to play behind the belly dancer. I remember thinking that would have been good to spin to.

you could also probably find at least one song on each of the Putamayou Presents albums that would be fun to spin with.

Some Disturbed tracks are just pure awesome to spin to... IMHO, the best ones are 10000 Fists, Shout 2000 and The Game.

Dammit, speaking of The Game, I just lost. tongue

Posted:An old thread many year ago listed "Please Sir" by Pitchshifter as a great song to spin to.

I got hold of it later that week, and it is now my favourite rock/metal song, as well as my favourite to spin to.

Hmm, haven't even heard any other Pitchshifter tracks, maybe I should or will it spoil my image from one song?

'Rearviewmirror' by Pearl Jam is a good one though...
'Unforgiven' by Metallica
'Radio/Video' by System of a Down
'Black Betty' by Ram Jam Band

are a few that I remember...

Same, I have spun to rock/metal but can't get into the "feel" as much unless it's really bouncy metal/rock.

In Flames and Strapping Young Lad are good to spin too, as are Sybreed and Soilwork.

Oh and pretty much every Nine Inch Nails song ever written grin

Will normally spin to trancy stuff though grin

Posted:I think the reason metal is rarely good to spin to can be summed up in answering the question, how often do poi and mosh pits complement each other?

I know I do enjoy a lot of music that's no good to spin to, like Brujeria, A.C., Sepultura, but I enjoy my few spinworthy metal tracks more than I do even relatively yummy electronic. Though to be fair, my favorite spinning band, Godflesh, gave birth to industrial metal by combining black metal with trance/ambient influences. One could make the case that their being good to spin to comes more from their non-metal influences.
