You have to remember that many of the people that might be using it are in different timezones. And many of those are at work when on they're on the net.And Australians seem to think it's tomorrow - poor deluded fools - it's all quite confusing (at least for a simpleton like me).I tried using it (IRC) a while ago - when I first started spinning - and was never very comfortable with it. Shortly after that I started posting lots on here instead....you're more likely to get a response (tehe)

Normal for most special interest IRC channels Most people will leave an IRC channel if no one else is there, and so unless a group of people decide to use it by prior arrangement, they're empty 99.99% of the time for (comparatively) low interest subjects.[This message has been edited by Primavera (edited 09 December 2001).]

When it first started up I went in there a lot and there was usually at least a couple of people in there, but for a while now it has seemed to have died in the ass.LET'S GET IT GOING AGAIN!Could any1 who is interested in using the room, tell us what times u r most likely to b in there. Yeah and for some of us ozzies translation to GMT time would b greatly appreciated

Oh and I most often get on the net around late-night 2 early morning, which would b after 12pm to about 5 pm your time (UK) yes?

What do you mean we think that it's tommorrow.If you really want to get down to the semantics, 'We' think that it is today. That just happens to be tommorrow for you.But as i have said previously, this is not just due to time difference. Us aussies (and NZ's for that matter.....but we don't of these things) are just that little bit quicker than the rest of you guys.But we try not to hold that against you Cantus CheersAPB

OK how about Sunday's between 10-12 am GMT? That's not too late for you peeps under us (in so many ways....) and it means us normal, english types can enjoy it with our coffee...

I am constantly on Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm UT/GMT+12This is when I am at work, however, so I can't always be expected to say anything.My nick is usually b--The channel really only has 3 regulars. Ocassionally other people will flitter in and out, but mostly they don't have the patience to get into the swing of things.[This message has been edited by robert michael (edited 10 December 2001).]

i'm also usually on there at the same time as robert, and generally notice if some one is there within 1/2 an hour, unforetunatly people have usually left by then.Solution: jump on irc, leave it idling, make yourself a coffee, drink it, have another coffee and by then some one should be talking to you )

Well cantus......i've been around, i suppose.Ummm i have been doing a bit of work out on a farm (you know, farmer joe type stuff, picking fruit, mending fences, killing snakes, cutting down trees) all that sort of gear.And ive been doing the farmer joe sort of shift as well, which means ive been up early getting home late and falling asleep as soon as im in the house.But thats over now so im back on the net.I hope you found other people to try your insanity on whilst i was away CheersAPB

I was trying to make it simple for young Durb's to understand. You know he has trouble following sometimes.Obviously Australia is the future. You only have to look at some of the sterling work done by Neighbours as an Australian flagship. How else would we English know what a sunny land Oz really is? A place where people you hardly know wander into your house at the drop of a hat, there are only 12 children in an entire inner city school and if you've got any problems you can easily sort them by a trip to the coffee shop/barbecue or by building a motorcyle.One should also take into account Flying Doctors, Home & Away, Skippy, Dame Edna sodding Everage and erm... Not forgeting top pop acts like Kylie and Men at Work. And all those others too numerous to remember.Then there's the honest men and women in charge of the country. Such forthright individuals you choose as political leaders. Decades of sound decisions, good ideas and racial tolerance.No, obviously I wasn't really dissing australia. It was all an act.

Ok but just remember Cantus. Were the ones that made em, but you're the ones that watch em.For example *clears throat* Kylie was number 1 in the uk charts for some five weeks.Neighbours is more popular in the uk than it ever will be in Aus.I have never seen the flying doctors, and the only skippy i have ever touched was the one i removed from the front of a friends car. Apart from these little misconceptions, you were pretty close with your description of aus......well at least my part of it.CheersAPBp.s. theres nothing wrong with fixing your problems over a coffee or especially a barbie
