Hi, all.My troupe was performing (just minor gigs)during the spring and summer as "Cirque du Flambe". I had a hunch this would be a temporary name as it was a pretty obvious play on words so someone else was probably using it. This turned out to be true. Our name now is "The Ash Circle". I'm hoping no one is using this. This has been discussed for stage names, but I couldn't find a string like it for troupe names, so here goes...If you perform as a troupe, what's your name? What would you like it to be? Tell us about yourselves: the number of members, level of professional activity, any gripping soap operas and love triangles in your midst? Do you eat together? pick bugs out of each others' hair? that sort of thing...

-Rick aka Loki
oh, man, a signature?... uuh... this is like coming across wet cement... uuh, shoot, I had something clever I was saving... I hope I don't run out of sp

I think any group or member of the board with the word "pyro" in,
should be branded as having "not much imagination"

wink

"Fire" on the other hand... well, thats different.

ubblol I'll tell frodo, strugz and 2 bags when I see them next ubblol

A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

Hey! I came up with Pyromorph and Pyrogasm long before it was cool to be Pyro. I think everyone else is just following my trend, and that I had loads of imagination when I came up with them XX years ago! tongue

"Fire" on the other hand....been around too long....it's just boring. wink

Alright, so despite the noticable lack of suggestions for names, I have a few figured. deHYDRAtion was one, as was Dragons Inc.

So do people have suggestions, which they're hiding? Or do I wander off alone again to try and figure it out with a thesaurus? umm ubblol

After much consideration, I find that the view is worth the asphyxiation.

heh great movie

in terms of troupe names, see sig. Fire trinity was the obvious choice because, surprise there were three of us. Draconik, well, I dunno, I wasn't the one who came up with it...so besides being connected with the dragon in the name, no clue.

i hereby claim the name

"Freestyle Burnination"

for a group we've got together now.

i also need to pre-nick the event names

"Flagrant Inflagration"

and

"You Just Want To See Me Catch On Fire, Don't You?"

for shows/promos etc. wink

(if they haven't been ((provably)) taken. google says they're empty.)

if you want to steal back from me, I like things that start with "blazing", but didn't have much follow up inspiration in that area. peace!

It's de-HYDRA-tion, Hydra being a mythological monster that kept regrowing it's heads when they were cut off, and could only be killed by applying a burning torch to the stumps of it's necks. Also a pun on (obviously) dehydration, which is a lack of water... biggrin

Just call the troupe Aardvark.... or if you insist on having a fire angle to it Aardvark Flambé.

"Why Aardvark?" I here you say. Well because then on pretty much any alphabetical listing of fire performers, you'll be right there at the top of the list.

Its a good idea. Aside from cool names, i give up checking through all the troupe names. Aardvark is very original. Flaming something or other is somewhat cliche, unless of course the name actually has something to do with the troupee.

Don't mind me, just passing through.

Basically as long as the .com-name is still available, anything goes. As soon as the domain name is registered, you might get into troubles when using a name that is already out there.

Especially as long as it's not registered for a certain type of merchandise.

If a name is registered for a specific type of product (for say Quicksilver reg.d for Computer Software) you may use a slightly different spelling, for example: Quiksilver - and swooops you can distribute clothing and accessories... ok, better example: if "Pyropixies" would be reg.d for electronic lamps and such, you might still be able to register "Pyropixies" as a group-name for performance.

Trademark protection is tricky, as is the use of certain logos. You have to verify each and every case individually... For say you may not be able to call your group the "Pepsis" or the "ColaComas" and use their typo...

If you are violating registered trade mark rights you may be subject to claims by the trademark-holder. The ammount of the fine is depending on the (ab)use and the "damage"... For court purposes sometimes a nominal value of 50.000 euros is set to calculate the fees (for lawyers etc.) The resulting fine may be lower or higher - depending.

So if you are choosing a name for your performance group, try an online search first before you publish it... if your "competitor in name" is a small backyard bakery you have a good chance of getting away with it and maybe even offer to join promotions... wink yummy... biggrin If the domain name is taken but inactive and the name NOT registered as a trademark, you may be able to register, but will not be able to claim the domain from it's owner.. But there a lot of other boring legal stuff and sidealleys kick in... rolleyes

good luck smile

Ah, PS: the names I know of and guess are taken so far

Pyropixies
Pyrostyxx
Pyrogarden
Firetales
Firesouls
Phoenix Firedancers wink
Carpe Noctem...

am kinda tilted right now.... brain not functioning properlyyyyyyyyy

the best smiles are the ones you lead to wink
