I read in one of your other posts that you will be at a Rennaissance Fair here in Florida in January?????Is it true? Is this the one near..*tries to remember* It's been awhile since I've been there. I think they just moved it to a new location. Please give me more info as to where and specifically when. I will make it a point to make it out there to come meet you. CRD...sadly I foud out only last week that the Florida Keys Renaissance Faire in Marathon, Florida has been cancelled and so all of us performers are now left in the cold, literally for me!It pissed me off royally too. So, anyway, I won't be coming down there in January now.I can give you an address if you care to complain though! wink------------------Pele Higher, higher burning fire...making music like a choir...https://www.pyromorph.com

Speaking of Renaissance Festivals... there is a *very* nice one outside of Houston in Texas. Permanent grounds, a lance charging show, er parades, lots of shops, really large grounds... the website is https://www.texrenfest.com
Seeing some fire dancers there would be really neat smile Once I stop hitting myself and stop sucking I may call and ask if they need someone to spin!=D And then I could meet some HoPers... It is out of season though, it lasts through september and october, I think it is closed for most of the year.... Peace! tALLICA--------------------------Search for meaning, not guided by thought.Help me find it,I am lost.

CRD....which one on www.ren-fest.com? That represents Florida North(Live Oak) and Florida South(Deerfield Beach). The entertainment director is interested in my show but not until 2003. In order to get into any of these faires as a performer, tapes and portfolios have to be sent in by late Spring of the year before. It is very cut throat competition to perform on those stages! So that you know there are other faires all over Florida...I missed 3 or 4 but here are some links to others if you are interested....Largo: https://www.renaissancefest.com/bayarea.html(a
few friends of mine perform this every year)Gainsvillehttps://www.state.fl.us/gvl/arts_culture/medieval.htmlPalm Beachhttps://www.renaissancefest.com/palm-beach-main.htmRingling (It's the Ringling Museum BTW)https://www.renaissancefest.com/medieval-fair-sarasota.htmRedlandhttps://www.redlandrenaissancefaire.com/Like I said. I missed a few.Tallicaburton (fan of Metallica and Tim Burton?)There are also several in Texas. The one to which you are referring, TRF, runs from October through November. I do know some of the performers there as well. There is alsoScarboroughhttps://www.scarboroughrenfest.comHawkwood (I wouldn't recommend it)https://www.hawkwood.orgShakespeare Festival and Ren Faire in Alvinhttps://www.newcastlevillage.com/There is also two more without web addy's so I don't remember much about them except one is in March/April and is between Whitehouse and Troup. As for performing in them. If you need help getting things together I would be happy to walk you through some of it. You will need an audience interactive, comedy intensive stage show lasting about 20 minutes, period appropriate costume, language and tools....and that is just the beginning. I have been working in Ren Faires for 10 years! smile------------------Pele Higher, higher burning fire...making music like a choir...https://www.pyromorph.com

I think, but i'm not sure, Pele. That the Burton refers to Cliff Burton - the original bassist with Metallica. https://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Stage/6848/cliffremembered.html
Just a guess though. Could be wrong - one of our family had it happen to them once.------------------C@ntusIn the past, the fools would pay, to see the freaks of the day. Oh...I remember him Cantus, and while it really was a tragedy (I couldn't even imagine shocked ) I still think Jason Newstead was a far better bassist. I was dreafully upset when he left, which really has seemed to be the demise of Metallica. If anyone needs to leave the group it is Lars, the damn prick! Yes, that is right, I am a mild Metallica fan, though other than S&M I really think they peaked with the Black Album (though in the rock music category Godsmack and Disturbed are still better in my eyes! wink).I like my Tim Burton theory better...talk about a detailed visionary! He blows my mind continually! tongue------------------Pele Higher, higher burning fire...making music like a choir...https://www.pyromorph.com

I believe Deerfield was the one I was thinking of. Wow..I never realized there were soo many. The only other I knew of was the Ringling(looks like I remember correctly) one. Thanks for the links..I definately don't think I'm ready to be a ren performer. :P I've always had difficulty talking in that period...maybe with a few more years practice though.CRD

hmmm.... dont know if they would bend on this one, but on the texas one it says in the FAQ.... FIRES: Absolutely NO FIRES are allowed. Coleman type stoves and lanterns are acceptable. Please do not store flammable objects in your camping area. just thought i would let ya know

If you had a friend that was a tightrope walker, and you were walking down the street and he just fell over......that would be unacceptable.

No fires huh...taken me a while to get back to this thread...The Burton is for Cliff Burton...and I do think metallica peaked at black album, but I really have gotten more and more into older albums like master of puppets and ride the lightning, although recently the hardest music i listen to seems to be Third Eye blind....Thanks for the advice Pele! And you too Happy Sticker wink I guess if they don't want fires, i'll just have to go somewhere else...although, some of the acts there use torches (that are lit wink) so I think it would be okay, but considering I haven't spun fire yet at all (still using those good old tennis balls) it might be a while till I investigate this matter further... thx again!peace and PLUR -tallica

HappySticker and tallicaburton....actually that applies to the camping area where the vendors and performers camp on the premesis. It is to keep people from having bonfires, which burned down one Ren Faire about 18 years ago. It doesn't apply to shows. As long as you have insirance, prove your worth as a performer and they either get the approval of the fire marshal or pay him off (which has happened), you are good to have fire even in the strictest of faires.------------------Pele Higher, higher burning fire...making music like a choir...https://www.pyromorph.com

ha! so i found a thread that...sorta helps me out. *bump!*
Okay...I did a search to find people in my area willing to teach...unfortunately I don't drive yet. So...I guess I'll keep looking for someone closer to me. I def need to get better before any faires would even glance my way.
Just wanted to know what the deal was. The faire here is in Crownsville. And it has year round grounds, I've been by it when the season is out. It looks very empty.... But anyway, Pele, what kinds of things would renfaire twirlers wear? I'm curious to know. thanks!!!

You've just been attacked by:

however, hold up. Disturbed better than Metallica? Did you mean to say that?? loco!

Ah well each to his (or her) own, I know, so will stop now, suppress the anger...
