Well here's my first ever video on the internet, makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside...

This video is basically the edited highlights of Strugz's video of us at Beautiful Days, I didn't think people would want to download 116MB, so this is 30 (which admittedly is still too big).

Usual drill; Right Click the link and "Save As..."

This is by no means a "Where we're at in poi" video, it isn't even a "Here's some wicked footage of us spinning" - I'd class it as a "Us at a festival with our toys" video.

2 Versions of it now:
BURNT TOAST 1 - 28MB

BURNT TOAST 1 - 5MB

What type of Aerotech is that person using? (Is that you Durbs?)

The blue/white spinny type thingy. Those are awesome, and I want some

Pretty video, I like your editing style, very smooth.

Awesome video, I loved your glow toys and nice flames on the fire poi.

If I may make a suggestion, consider a tripod for more of your next video? A few of the shots were a little too jumpy

Fun video overall, but the switches to extended-exposure frames detracted from the video (especially in one part where Durbs did a move I totally cannot identify that looked sweet but the frames was such that I couldn't tell how he did it!).

MisStix, you're a hottie

Well, most of the footage was taken sitting on the floor, we had enough stuff to carry without hiking a tripod around too - for our "proper" vid things'll be alot better.

I'm just compiling a small version of that file as it's a bit too big really...

Kinudin - They're Blue/White GloMeteors (The first pair Aerotech made ) but it's Strugz spinning them.

Dio - Yeah, we've learnt our lesson about switching frame rates mid-shot, it was pretty much a play with the camera thing, hence the random skips into sepia and night-vision.
If you let me know what time the move's at on the video I'll see if I can tell you what it is

Thanks all for the positive feedback though

And yes, Stix is a "hotty"

That frame-rate effect is produced by a Sony Handycam, yes?

If so, I know a few other really cool effects it can render that are less striking than the Extended-Exposure (we really need a shorter acronym for that) mode.

Durbs - that move looked like a weave with a handcuff wrap that you carried across and unwrapped again, I guess would be the best way to describe it. Closer to the beginning of your set, and the poi were on your left side (facing the camera) when you did it. Either way, I'm gonna try that one out at practice tonight amigo

Hey Guys,

As Mr Durbs pointed out that vid is literally a quick "oooooh ive got a new camera, lets see what it can do" moment.

It was taken using the sony TRV 540 - which is a fine bit of kit, im just learning what it does, hence the jumping around throught the settings

Apologies if this did annoy anyone!

Tripod which i now have, shall be used for added steadyness The whole vid was shot whilst having a shakey hand due to way too much fun being had and not enough sleep

However, now that i am accustomed to the device - some more plesantries will be on the way soon!

I have some fine footage of Durbs and his rope dart which you guys must see Sorry Durbs, but it does look sweeet!

It will be around later this month - taken from spoc 3 at the weekend.

If the camera does digital effects (button on the side when you open the LCD viewfinder) I recommend the "trail" effect with a setting of one notch above zero. It adds quite a nice touch to poi as a sort of synthetic slow-mo and really helps to illustrate the motion.

I anxiously await your next project! And am somewhat jealous there's not a large spinning community around here like you've got

Dio - i know just the effect you mean, i havnt tried it on such a low setting though, mmmm wonder what ill be doing 2nyt.

Musashii - Thanx, and yes it is a fire rope dart, i was putting finishing touches to the vid last nyt and will be posting it to Durbs very soon for scrutiny / approval!

Sadley i must warn you all now most of it was shot again without a tripod (for myself) but on the plus side Mr Shakey Hand Man didnt show up so it is fairly smooth

yeah.....

In a strange twist of technological fate, I've got the footage, but it doesn't seem to like being played by anything other than one program which I only had as trialware and has now expired. I can't even convert it into another format as none of my converters can read it. Ho-hum, give me time

Nah, it's an MPEG, but MPEG-2 format, which shouldn't make a difference but I can only play it with Elecard Player (which has a limited use) despite having all recent codecs for DivX, Windows MP, Zoom and Real...

Well, the "Burnt Toast 1" still works methinks, which has the Blue/White Aerotechs in, it's our second vid which we're having difficulties with.

Strugz mate, can you PM me your address and I'll whack a couple of blank CD's and maybe some full ones in the post to you
