I know I havent posted on here in a LONG time but I recently finished making a video that captures the best glowstringers in San Antonio Texas. We are very poi oriented in our glowstringing so I thought that I may share this video with the HOP community because this site helped me out a long time ago when I began stringing.

Well,This vid was filmed a while back during the summer but I finally finished editing everything. I think it came out really nice, and I think it was well worth the wait. I wanna thank all my stringers friends and all who have inspired me to string, this vid is for yall

The song is Planet Funk - Chase the Sun

Enjoy....I hope this video sparks new ideas..

Wow - A really unique, stunning, interesting style, I really am deeply impressed.
I have to admit I was sceptical before watching it, but that truly dazzeled me.

A couple of questions:
1) What are you actually spinning, I assumed they were glowsticks but they seem to be strobing and also in the final section they're turned on and off.
2) Could you post some descriptions in the "Moves" section about those "knots" (for want of a better word) with all the ties around necks and snap releases etc, I really liked them!

Much respect guys, a great video and a great style.

Thanks for all the positive feedback, and I was a bit skeptical before releasing the video here because I hear a lot of bad talk about glowstringers. But I decided what the hell, might as well.

I'll try and answer some of your questions

1.All of us are spinning 6 inch glowsticks except for me at the end. I use a pair of 6 inch white LED sticks that I built myself from scratch. They are unique because when you wrap or put pressure on the string, they turn on.

2.Some of the moves you are talking about are categorized as "mind games". They consist of Traces, string wraps, Reg/Extended Hyper loops aka air wraps, and catches.

You can also go check out my site WWW.STRINGEPEOPLE.COM for more detailed descriptions and more vids in the forum.

Some of your wraps include both of your poi making continually smaller circles, until they hit your hands and then unravel in the other direction - are those just double hand wraps, or something different? I need to learn that before Monster Massive

That's due to them spinning so fast the framerate only captures the poi spinning in certain locations in the air, giving it the illusion of strobing.

I can do those spirals with my beamers They can be a bit messy at times though.

I like this video. Its good to see glowstringers that have actual skill and not just be all about wraps. All the waist wraps and between the legs stuff is great. Shadow was my fav and I love the move at 7:16... Gonna learn that one. Would be interesting to do some of those headgames with fire

Few questions

How long have you guys been spinning?
Can ya do normal hyperloops (hyperloop weave/buzzsaw etc) with glowsticks or are they too light?
Is it possible to get a detailed (or brief) description on how you made those LED sticks?
You guys ever mess with fire poi?

Let's turn those old bridges we crossed into ashes.

Well we've all been stringing for about 1 year, some of us a little bit less. So this is basically how far we've gotten in a years worth, on and off, of practice.

As for the hyperloop question. Well us glowstringers call them 3 things..

1.)Regular airwrap - The strings quickly wrap then untangle at the glowstick ends of the string.

2.)Extended Airwrap - You bring the strings together at the base (where your hands are) then pull and create a much longer airwrap. Done in "Bomb's" set at the beginning of the video.

3.)Orbital Airwrap - Same as above except you turn your body 180 degrees and let the strings un wind seamlessly in the same direction. Done by me (Shok) at the end when I use my homemade LED sticks, and also by Trunkz, and Lil Ditty.

Also, Malcolm, can I send you footage of us for the next COL? I want us to be a part of it. If you decide to put us in that is.

Peace.

Shok, there were people using glowtoys in COL 4.

That was really an incredible video. Also wanted to say that song is one of the most interesting mixes of vocal, drums, and other instruments that I've heard. It seems almost surreal. Maybe I'm just odd. Did anyone get a surreal feeling when watching the video because of that music? And no I'm not high or anything. I don't do that.

Incredible video guys, you're really pushing the envelope as far as moves go. I especially like the parts where it looks like you tie the stix around your neck and pass em all over and end up right back where u started... it's crazy and nifty at the same time!

On the more technical side of things, what software did you use to make the video? The graphics, transitions, etc? I'd like to do similar stuff in our vids but right now I'm sorta limited with the programs available to me.

I've been trying this and can't get it solid.

I'm using shoe laces cord.

Do you just stick one index finger out? I started by wrapping one cord round all four fingers of one hand, and the other round the wrist of the other, I'm having difficulties getting both cords to wrap round just one finger.

that's the way i do it too

works with heavier poi that way.
there's also the palm-to-palm version which is handy cos it works nicely with butterfly too and you can hold your hands apart for a faster wrap.

Tekno Turtles - Compilation 8/003

And as for the move you guys are talking about...its really simple, all you have to do is stick out your hand and let the string wrap around it until it stops wrapping and changes direction. Its called a one-handed spiral.

And the software I used...

1.)Analog JVC Camcorder
2.)Dazzle Dig Vid Creator 80
3.)Studio 400 Video Editor

First of all, quality video, seriously. And secondly, this string you talk about, where I buy glowsticks theres no string included, so what am I looking for if I go buy it seperatly? Just plain white string you find in roles or what?
