It seems to be a matter of policy now for US troops to fire on demonstations against them in Iraq. The Bush regime seems to be trying to make sure that the only political voices heard are ones hand-picked by the Pentagon using very blunt methods. I may not share the religious view of some of those in Iraq but I hope that the Iraqi people fight for their rights despite the repression. Whether it's Bloody Sunday in Ireland or Tianenmen Square in China nasty regimes will always use force to get their way.

Yes, I was being a bit pessimistic there and thinking like that gets us nowhere except deppression central.
The sad thing is that, the day after I put the first message up, US troops shot more people in Baghdad who were demonstrating. This time it was Iraqi ex-soldiers who are asking for the pay which is owed to them. I'm not sure if shooting them was a good move since,as one of them told a reporter,- we have guns and know how to use them if we need to.
