Best one I've heard wa soff this board, "please sir" by Pitchshifter. Absolutely awesome energy for firedancing...Not bad as a soundtrack for extreme unicycling too...

Which album is that pitchshifter song on? I have a few of their albums, but I don't know song titles! They're a great band, but everyone I talk to has never heard of them.

That all depends on what type of music you like to listen to. I've found everything from classical to blues/jazz to rock to punk. Poi is an art, and by spinning you are expressing yourself so try to find something that you believe fits your style of spinning, something that you can get lost in.

That's the best I can do without more information other than "not techno".

My recommendation, just go with whatever you like to dance/move around to.

It was a day for screaming at inanimate objects.

What this calls for is a special mix of psychology and extreme violence...

Try Era. They have some very cool songs that are anything but techno.

Errr a bit sad but Earth Wind and Fire is funky and fab.. also Orbital is good.. but I'm hooked on Adiemus at the moment.. either album is good.. lots of slow soft, rapturus building choir music.. very atmoshperic!

I honour you as an aspect of myself..

EWF would be cool to poi to..

I know someone who used to belly dance to Ramble On by Led Zep.
It would probably work for poi too, unless you're a speed demon.

for a slight change from techno you could try some psy-trance, especially as you can download some very good stuff for free, legally.

cheap and easy stuff I've found from MP3.com are

Infected Mushroom - PsyTrance Sirk - Chilled Grooves (?)
yahel - PsyTrance, Trance, Progressive Trance, that sort of thing
Angina P - Kinda drum and bassy sort game/film score stuff, good, in my opinion (obviously)
Surprisingly there's other stuff out there as well.

Hey Astroboy, try Ministry (in particular Jesus built my hotrod, or just one hit), Butthole Surfers (Dirt Devils, who was in my room last night, they came in), Rage against the machine (bomtrack, killing in the name). Coupla early Pennywise tracks are also groovy to twirl to (not far away, same mold)... plenty of alternatives to techno

The Akira soundtrack is something I use when I contact juggle. Check out some other anime soundtracks as well, I'm sure you'll find something you like.

White Zombie. Any track. Generally has a driving beat similar to electronica but definately more 'metal'.

For slower more flowing stuff I always moving to Incubus.
