Can't help you I'm afraid Xanath, just wanted to add a question while on the subject of Meteors.

A friend of mine Chooch (who has not been seen on HOP for a long long time alas) is interested in getting the Meteor with bowls. Does anyone on HOP swing these and have any pics / vids or know where I can get hold of them?

Come faeries, take me out of this dull world, for I would ride with you upon the wind and dance upon the mountains like a flame.

Chinese Meteor Hammers? Erm, if you mean things like these:

which are called many names, then I think the answer is no-ish.
My teacher has showed my one of the forms for them which did incorporate a weave, chasing the sun, and maybe some low-waves, but generally nope - not really that similar.

If however you didn't mean this at all - please ignore this post

Here's links to meteor stuff: -

https://www.davidpanther.plus.com/movies/dave_meteors.avi

is my video. Its 15 Mb and will give you an idea of how they are spun and what they look like. You need to 'right click' the link and use 'save as'.

Is a link to a meteor FAQ/thread for beginners with construction tips.

Meteors are great! A good variation on poi and the length/visual effect of staff with none of the carrying hassles.

there are also two pretty good metior threads on hop, look in the other toys section.

You can do most things with metiors that yuo do with poi, depending on the length. Short ones mean you cant do as much poi-type spinning but are easier for staff form spinning, long metiors do everything but can often be to long for vertical staff form.

get into them, not enough peaple do them.

hey now dont be dissin meteors
ive been doin them for a while and yeah i can throw them and do flips....thanks for callin me an expert
im flattered
personally i think poi can be more visually stimulating but only when people reach the top notch level
of which ive only seen once......but meteors in my opinion are easier than poi and dont become a pain like staff (break a staff and find out for urself)
anyways i use a meteor thats about 6 feet -ish
and it suits me just fine

I don't think they're easier than poi but I only started using them recently.

Hi Bender -

I'm really interested in learning to play with the meteor - I've got my rope; where can I get hold of a couple of those 'melon hammers'?

Cheers,

Jerz
