As classic as it is, you've got to hand it to the man for sheer enthusiasm, sound effects and style

It bought a great grin to my day to see that vid - just have fun with whatever you are doing - bugger any potential critics.

Is this a platform issue? (Im on a Mac)

heh heh, i love it!!! note that
1 - he turns on his axis way more than most firetwirler
2 - he varies his tempo, way more than most twirlers

yes, he has little control or perhaps even foresight of his routine, but the guy's a star nonetheless!!

and no i am not being a sarcastic prick, i mean it!!!

that was sweet! certainly made me grin. Gotta hand it to the guy for sheer outright ballsyness of doing that in front of a camera. How on earth did you find it Astar?

oooh...I've seen this one, but instead of the swishey sword noises, it had the peter gunn theme playing in the background.

Much more comical with Peter Gunn.

The love of my life thought I was going crazy because I kept bursting into spontaneous laughter for about half an hour after seeing it.

I absolutely love the "angry canoe paddler" bits where he tries to attack the camera. His body seems to wobble even more than the staff does!

But, hey, kudos for doing it in the first place. I wonder how long agao this was filmed, he might actually be really good now...

Smooth!

See, this is all well and good until he arrives n the boards next week and finds he's been ripped to shreds by us all (apart from a few...)

Still - I'm sure we were all there once (maybe without the sound effects and falling over, but close) and isn't enthusiasm the main thing?

I think he's been idolising Darth Maul for a bit too long.

hi guys.

im the one in that video. i put a lot of effort into it, and its kind of upsetting that some of u to be laughing at it. I had thought the people on HoP would at least appreciate that i took the time and put in the work to get that much done - even if im not as good as u guys.

May your staff spin fast and your poi always miss your balls.

just joking. wasnt really me. bet some people felt a teeny little bit bad.....

i watched that video and i was blown away. comedy value aside, it made me think. im guessing that guy hasnt been spinning for a fraction of the time that i have. and yet, i watched that and often thought "wow - i've gotta try doing that move".

its made me really question my spinning. i guess maybe after seeing that, it just seems like ive got too caught up in the "normal" staff spinning style, too caught up in moves, and pushing moves further and further, trying to get more spins, etc. heres a guy who has got some top class moves, and i bet if he had spent as much time practicing that routine as i have spent spinning, it's b ****ing amazing.

its made me think whats the point of al this "technical" spinning? maybe the moves i've learnt, and that ive used as the basis from which to learn new moves, and to develop a style, have just trapped me into spinningin a very particular way.

i honestly think that man should be given a honorary award or inclusion in the next CoL. on the one hand, he does something that i dont often see spinners do: he unashamedly goes for the comedy aspect. i think spinning means so much to us that we dont even think of doing something like that. on the other hand, he has got some nice moves, and he does move around a lot more than most twirlers - and i'me sure he's only had a fraction of the practice we've had. i think its too easy to ignore the positives due to the comedy element.

thats what the little voices and i have come up with so far. going off to sit in a corner and o a lot of thinking about my staff twirling.

May your staff spin fast and your poi always miss your balls.
