Posted:presence of salts, pH, temperature, along with moisture. Bacteria can affect the pH, but that is about all.

Posted:normal bacteria cannot effect rusting, however, there have recently been theories put forward that tiny bacteria of almost virus size (archea) act as a catalyst for rusting, and that no such reaction can occur without them.

wow, that was the most sciency thing I've said all week...give me a moment... pointers are a data referencing method rather than a data storage method, leading to serious issues of memory allotment in C++ when incorrectly implemented classes are destructed in default or incorrect ways... the summation of all numbers from x to y can be determined by the equation sum = (x+y)((y-x)+1)/2... all better, yayayayayayay
