Was wondering if anyone has the Ultima Swinging Tubes from the shop....seems that the parental units are asking what is on the menu for Xmas and greedy little me was kinda thinking about them tubies. I'm not sure about some stuff though:

How bright?
How flexible? (still possible to wrap with them)?
How durable?

Was also thinking about snagging some of those nice beaming balls too. Can anyone give me some comparative reviews please? Searched the forums but I can't seem to find anything concrete! (brightness is probably the most important factor)

Thanks and much love!

A little off track, but how would you compare the beaming balls and electroglo poi.

Which is brighter?

I love my Beaming poi!!
Although watch out! They sting if you get hit!!
They where given to me by a student, she hated them B/C she kept hitting herself, being new to poi and all. I gave her a lot of insight in the art of poi, and she got good, but she didn't want them back. O-Well I LOVE THEM!!!!

I don't know about the tubes but i can tell you about my beaming balls! I swing my balls all the time! They so bright and red, i can't even look at them! They hurt REALLY bad when u hit yerself! But mine had a connector problem! The power supply didn't connect very well with the whole unit! My balls flash on and off ! Oh well, i still like to spin my balls, maybe i just need some viagra... i mean screwdriver!!!!!!!!

Try a bit if Tin foil between your batteries and the lid. Its probebly just a bad connection. The same happened to mine, they flashed after a while, and I just filled the gap with tin.

Has anyone tried to put a second LED unit into the electroglo poi (in the opposite end to the existing LED unit)?

Could it be done?

I thought they where something elts. For $200 though, I would buy a pair of beamming poi, that cool glowing staff, and a few fire videos!
I just don't like wire poi, I am a big fan of the chain poi my self.

I know Just have your parents get a HOP Gift Cert. (hehehe) Malcolm you need to get on the ball with them.

It can indeed be done, quite easily in fact, it's just a case of popping the plastic end off and stuffing them in - I did it with mine and now have a pair with blue leds on one end and green on the other, they give really, really nice trails.

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures yet

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Sounds excellent. Look forward to seeing some photos when you have some BovrilMonkey.

So, if ya put an extra red LED in the other end of a blue electroglo would ya get red/purple/blue trails? Or I am I just taking this too far?

Yep, in theory that's how it'd work.
I'm not too hot on how mixing light works though and you could end up with it more pink than purple

I've done some testing (ie. I made them, but they weren't swingable) with two coloured lights. I put blue led in one end of a used glowstick and a green one in the other. I creates a *beautiful* fade from one colour to the other. When you swing them, it would create a gorgeous gradient band of light.

This was supposed to be a suprise for all of you when I finished, but I guess now the secret's out. Just to tempted to be helpful.

I plan to build them over the christmas break and will send in pictures when they're done.

Go with the beaming balls, there phat, i love mine too, even if they are resposible for alot of bruies! they are heavy at first but you get used to them and everthing else feels light. there really bright aswell, so bright it hurts your eyes wehn you look at the lights directly, i have never seen the yellow ones in action, but the red ones produce real nice trails and have a good effect.
